I agree. Without them, anyone could become a Jedi, and we know that's not true. Plus, they make the reason why Luke and Leia are so important more clear.

At first I was opposed to the idea, seemed to Trekish. But they really pulled it off and the Force still retained it's mystery.
On a similar note, I think, like Christianity or the origin of life, there are many theories on the nature of the Force. Qui-Gon seemed to be in favor of "the living Force" a Force that had it's own will and the midi-chlorians were the cause of Force strength. However, no other jedi in ep1 seemed to feel the same way as Qui-Gon, which could be a part of his rebellious nature. Some Jedi may see the midi-cchlorians as a sign of Force sensitivity, but not the cuase, merely a biproduct. While Qui-Gon and other Jedi may feel it is the cause. I think these sorts of things will be further explored in the next 2 films.

    waitaminnit!

There's a sentence after disagree, but not one after agree! That's screws with the accuracy. ESPCIALLY since the idea and possible significance of the midichlorians is very complex and their meaning is NOT etched anywhere in stone..... yet. :)

I wasn't sure, but after I read the midichlorian study on TFN I was sold on them.

I'm against them, wholeheartedly. But there's still Eps II and III for me to change my mind.

Disagree. I like scientific reasoning and everything, but not in Star Wars. Star Wars, for me, is pure magic. I'd like to keep it that way!

I found it a little too scientific as well but I voted 'agree' because...George Lucas is the creator...hehe...can't think of a better reason.

I dont have a problem with them. As I understad it, the mediclorians only TELL us about the will of the force, they ARE not the force.... If you know what I mean?

I don't like it. bascially, I didn't like anything in TPM... :( It just sounds like Luca$ was trying to put more science into something that has been rightly called a "space fantasy".

Read this excellent article by Chris Knight and you may find yourself agreeing with the midichlorian concept...

I don't agree that midichlorian count is a strict indicator of Force Power, but if George says they're there, they're there!

I like it. First of all, when you include the documentary on TPM's DVD, Lucas says that midichlorians were always part of the story when he first wrote the screenplays. But what I like is that it helps introduce the audience to the Force and its relative strength in various individuals. Also, it helps set up for when Yoda takes a departure from the numbers and talks more about the luminousity of the Force.

I'm OK with it. It does help explain why the Force can run in families, etc.
