JCC Do you ever have Like guilt?

I suppose we all have our Like criteria. It could be a simple thing as a post making you smile, or think, to complicated algorithm you exercise to determine a Likable post.

But sometimes names come up with so many Likes in a row for me I sit back and think, "I have not reciprocated to this person(s) in recent memory, perhaps I should check their post history and see if there is anything I should Like?"

The REBELLION! thread? Someone went through it in one day and hit me with over a dozen Likes. I checked them out, looked at their history for anything I might like....nuthin. Not a damned thing.

 

as far as liking something and regretting it, no. if you mean missing the opportunity to like something at the time it was posted, sometimes. but then i just like it and everything's fine.

As of this post apparently 41 people have Like guilt since they Viewed it.

 

I only regret it when I hit the Like button by mistake, especially on FB. Then I have to unlike and someone will receive notifications for nothing.

 

I just figured I'd like everyone in the thread to assuage my guilt.

 

I'm really guilty of it on Facebook. Some random person I went to High School with will like one of my posts, so I feel it necessary to like one of the three dozen pictures they post every day of their child performing routine feats of mediocrity.

 

I don't. If I did I would have to care. It's hard for me to care.

 

To be honest, I don't think that much about whether to Like something online. If it makes me laugh or I agree with that person's viewpoint, fine. Otherwise, I leave it alone.

 

I avoid guilt by using a simple equation for determining if a post meets the proper criteria for a 'like'

There are so many other things to feel guilty about in regards to internet browsing that 'liking' someone's post really doesn't cross my mind as a concern.

This thread...much like facebook...has me yearning for a dislike button. No offense to you, Montie, but in general I'd like to dislike stuff. I'm good at that.

 

I posted an excerpt from Iron Fist in the Aaron Allston thread in Lit that got 22 Likes so far. I don't think I've ever had that many Likes on one post before.

 

See Jarren_Lee-Saber just hit me with 7 Likes, I felt obligated, checked his history,a nd did indeed find a quick thing to Like.

 

why are you so obsessed with these online "accomplishments" of yours? it's cringeworthy to watch and

 

You do know that many folks on these boards aside from me have anniversary threads consisting of both post count totals and years as a member...right? So yes. People care.

 

well, they care about mentioning and thanking the people that made it worthwhile. they're not making the type of "look at me! me me me! i need attention!" threads that you do.
