Saga Do you ever wonder what R2 would've sounded like with a human voice?

Just curious.:D For some reason I always expected him to have a high-pitched voice with a British accent, not unlike 3PO.

It's interesting to wonder, but I'm glad this question will (hopefully) remain unanswered.

For me at least, there is no substitute for R2's iconic beeping.

For some reason I thought of a BUCK RODGERS voice or even BRAK or perhaps even a BUMBLE-BEE like accent due to R2-D2's quirks haha ...

    Funny enough I netted a little R2-D2 Gashapon Toy today ^^ :) >:D

In the Rough/First Draft of SW, Artoo did speak, rather than beeping, often with dialogue that would eventually be given to Threepio. While it couldn't present what he would have sounded like in terms of an accent or so on, the recent Dark Horse comic adaptation of 'The Star Wars' did have Artoo speaking:

As for Threepio, it's worth mentioning that right up until the shoot, GL intended him to speak like a sleazy used car dealer with a Brooklyn accent, and he planned to dub the dialogue in post - it was Anthony Daniels' performance on set which convinced everyone that he should speak like a prissy English butler.
Given that the two droids were basically performing a type of Abbott and Costello comic act, you would imagine that both would have originally been imagined with similarly comical American accents.

Danny DeVito is the kind of voice I would hear if Artoo spoke Basic.

Particularly in ANH that seems to be the case. I've always imagined what he could've been saying for 3PO to say "You watch your language!" and "Don't get technical with me!" Probably nothing I could repeat here.[face_shhh]

Although, honestly, as the films go on I always found him to seem more child-like than anything.

If we are to quote Smosh's "Disney Star Wars" idea, Nic Cage.

Another thing I wonder is does R2 refer to Luke as "Master Luke" like 3PO? Does 3PO only do that because he's so formal? I'm guessing R2 uses the term "Master Luke" too.

Well, he is the droids owner, simply. Droids in Star Wars refer to their owner as Master.
EDIT: Also I think he does refer to him like that.

I always wondered what Threepio meant by that. Did Artoo give a technical reason why he thought Mos Eilsey was the way he wanted to go?

I prefer to think of R2D2's voice sounding precisely like Mr. T.

    C3PO - "Hello I am C3PO"
    R2D2 - "I pity you fool"

Absolutely no. I think the peculiarity of this character is exactly his beep language! And I can say the same about Chewbacca's speech. Two incomprehensible languages, both without words, but very funny and iconic!

I always would have imagined him as Costello, and 3PO as Abbott.
