None of the above in movies since you have a choice as to whether you'll see them or not, but if it's on TV then it might be a bit too far at times, especially when it's at a time that a kid that isn't old/mature enough to handle it might be watching. Of course, there's nothing stopping you from changing the channel, but still...

    None of the above.

Sometimes I feel that the U.S. is way too conservative. A little (fake) violence and nudity never hurt anyone.

None of the above. I totally agree with Moff_D's first post:
Its a free country. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

Although there are so many oppinions and so many people to express them, it seems Hollywood (verily most media) has taken to excess all of the above. Speaking as a Christian, I would like to see everything of this nature to be completely out of all media, but it is most definetly a free nation and they can seemingly do *whatever* they want to. Just my two cents, don't take it for more than that, thank you.

Hollywood is approaching lines that are dangerous to cross, and have momentarily crossed some.

Some of the violence is out of hand. Why do you think that people are committing sicker crimes? most criminals can't think of this stuff on their own!

I think they've gone too far with not caring about violence when they consider ratings. Some of us don't like watching fingers being chopped off without warning. [face_plain]

All of the above. While I think that censorship is a bad thing, Hollywood is CHOOSING to put out all this garbage. I understand the "If you don't like it, don't watch it" idea, and I don't watch many movies...but most movies just don't need the language, violence and sex to make them good movies.

I think that all can be used well in a movie, while at the same time, things can be used badly.

    None of the Above.

Just a matter of how these elements are used, if in taste, and in story context.

I say all of the above because too much of any of those, especially language and sex, ruins a perfectly good movie. That is what I love about the Star Wars movies, the lack of these things.

Personally I think they have gone too far with the censorship. I saw Pulp Fiction on SPIKE the other day and it was utterly ruined. The cesorship was so blatent and distracting I couldn't enjoy a film that I loved uncensored. They even cut out the gimp. I watched "Uncensored. Unedited. Uncut." Van Wilder the other night and they still censored out nudity at 1:00 in the morning. If a kid is going to stay up that late to watch a comedy he can easily flip to HBO and watch porn.

I do feel some sympathy for people who watch things with kids. But there are family channels and there are adult channels. There are parental locks for things and there is a thing called parental responsibilty. And trust me. Those things work. I was at a friends house today and his overzealous parents have locked down his TV tightly with parental controls. I feel a bit sorry for him because my parents trust my judgement these days and don't even monitor what I buy. If your kid isn't old enough to watch anything besides Nick and Disney then don't let him watch anything besides those channels. If he isn't old enough to see a PG-13 movie then don't let him watch a PG-13 movie. If he isn't old enough to watch things by himself don't let him have a TV in his room.

Occasionally it may go too far, but generally, none of the above.
