None whatsoever. They serve no purpose.

 

Tattoos and piercings serve a myriad of purposes. Group identification or affliciation, status, sexual enhancement, aesthetics, expression of self, testing physical thresholds, rite of passage, or spritual awareness are just a few off the top of my head. Just because they are not for you doesn't mean they don't have a significant value for the adorned.

Take a wild guess which group I'm in.

I haven't had the guts to get a tattoo because I hear they hurt like hell.

Piercings: my belly button is pierced.

 

none now, I used to have my ears pierced, but the holes closed up

 

I have neither and I doubt I ever will. I don't understand their appeal.
