I have a cousin who dropped out of college during his final year. Didn't tell his own parents either. Just left the house everyday pretending to go to a school. He only told them because they were planning his graduation party.
    Yikes!

These days he mostly posts online about baseball and basketball. He's a bit overweight. Has little ambition for life and has a dead end job. I've never seen him in a relationship either.

Welcome to my real life Tunick.

Every time I overhear armchair outrage over social issues in the local coffeehouse, where opinions are flowing like java but nobody actually does anything but chatter, I have to convince myself that my world isn't succumbing to some sort of Tron-like scenario where I have been physically transported onto here.

I'd consider that the least of his/my problems.

Really? The JC is where I encounter those types... I practically never encounter that **** in real life... and I'm thankful.

You're in the right wrong section of the US. No idea where Prenn is.

    They're everywhere here.

I've met people who strangely resembled Jello, solojones, and others, but they must have been different people because there's a magical barrier between online and "real life."

I've encountered religious zealots in my time, some of 'em during my Walmart years, others elsewhere. Most were extremely passive aggressive about it, though. Maybe that's just a SoCal thing. :p

There was this optics engineer at my old workplace who thought he was superior to everyone in optical design and then some. It was his way or the highway. Disagree with his calculations or programming? Get ready for that scathing e-mail filled with insults. Got different results than him? You're clearly wrong and stupid and shouldn't be working there.

I know a few people who remind me of Rogue_Ten, at least politically. I don't think any of them can touch his dancing skills.

Coworkers, mostly. Given the way mathematicians tend to be wired it wouldn't really surprise me if every department had a couple.

Here's a life tip for you.... never tell a woman that she reminds you of your mother. That's one of the creepiest things you can possibly say to somebody.

I don't know, considering the person my mother is, I'd take it as a compliment if somebody said that to me.

Now if they said I reminded them of other members of my family... not so much.
