I'm not a fan.
Yes. But not the greatest ever.
It's okay. The movies were a slight improvement over the books but STAR WARS still pWns LOTR.
The books were great, i dunno about the best but definatly up there. The films id have to say are the best =)
no,i'm not a fan of LOTR.
I have only read the Hobbit.
I have read better.
best fantasy/fiction written in the last 100 years by any author. So much detail is put into it. How can one not enjoy it?
I LOVE the movies (saw ROTK five times in theaters). As far as the books are concerned, I've just made it out of Lothlorien (FOTR), but I just can't get into them.
As far as the books go, I felt FOTR dragged in a few places as well, but I liked TTT a lot better. It is definitely worth pushing on through.
LOTR novels are by far the best novels ever written.
Brilliant, brilliant story.
That's right bburditt!!
Well, I wouldn't say it was superb(that honor goes to Les Miserables by Victor Hugo), but it's a good series. So far I've only read The Hobbit and Fellowship of the Ring, and this weekend I'm gonna try and watch Fellowship (Peter Jackson version) . The two things I like the most are the "Bilbo Baggins Bathing Song" from Fellowship and "Crack the Dishes" from The Hobbit.
Great books period movie was great too
I'm somewhere between "It's OK" and "The greatest book ever written and I can't wait for the film."
Dude, this does not have any relavancey to SW, what so ever!
YES! I love it almost as much as Star Wars! The books and ideas are amazing, and the movies are excellent, but not quite as good as some I've seen. . .
definitely NOT the greatest book ever written, but very very enjoyable nonetheless.
Hello! my 2 greatest movie and book obsessions: LOTR and SW. Both rule and have their own defining traits so I wouldn't be able to say whos better...
They are sooo boring. I didn't mind to finish the book and couldn't stay awake in any of LOTR films.
I loved the Hobbit as a kid and loved the movies but the LOTR books were a but dull. I can't wait for the Hobbit movie. Battle of five armies!!
I voted best book ever, and I meant it.
My dad read the first chapter to me when I was eight. I got bored because he was reading too slowly, and finished it on my own.
Ever since then, LotR has been my favorite book, movie, game, and whatever else. (So sue me! I like it better than SW! ) It even helped me get over my fear of the movie theater. (Don't ask. It was years ago.)
I can't wait for the Hobbit movie. Don't hold your breath. It's going to be a while. I don't think they've even finished squabbling over film rights. (MGM vs. New Line--both have the rights to turn it into a movie, which presents a problem.) After that, it's likely that Peter Jackson would be director, in which case we'll have to wait for King Kong to be finished, which will take a while, and probably another three or four years after that to finish making the movie. Which is probably going to need a new Bilbo...
