best fantasy/fiction written in the last 100 years by any author. So much detail is put into it. How can one not enjoy it?

I LOVE the movies (saw ROTK five times in theaters). As far as the books are concerned, I've just made it out of Lothlorien (FOTR), but I just can't get into them.

As far as the books go, I felt FOTR dragged in a few places as well, but I liked TTT a lot better. It is definitely worth pushing on through.

Well, I wouldn't say it was superb(that honor goes to Les Miserables by Victor Hugo), but it's a good series. So far I've only read The Hobbit and Fellowship of the Ring, and this weekend I'm gonna try and watch Fellowship (Peter Jackson version) . The two things I like the most are the "Bilbo Baggins Bathing Song" from Fellowship and "Crack the Dishes" from The Hobbit. :p

YES! I love it almost as much as Star Wars! The books and ideas are amazing, and the movies are excellent, but not quite as good as some I've seen. . .

They are sooo boring. I didn't mind to finish the book and couldn't stay awake in any of LOTR films.

I voted best book ever, and I meant it.

My dad read the first chapter to me when I was eight. I got bored because he was reading too slowly, and finished it on my own.

Ever since then, LotR has been my favorite book, movie, game, and whatever else. (So sue me! I like it better than SW! :p) It even helped me get over my fear of the movie theater. (Don't ask. It was years ago.)

I can't wait for the Hobbit movie. Don't hold your breath. It's going to be a while. I don't think they've even finished squabbling over film rights. (MGM vs. New Line--both have the rights to turn it into a movie, which presents a problem.) After that, it's likely that Peter Jackson would be director, in which case we'll have to wait for King Kong to be finished, which will take a while, and probably another three or four years after that to finish making the movie. Which is probably going to need a new Bilbo... :(
