You should see my sister's room! It crammed full of LOTR stuff. There's barely an inch of wall showing and you can't even see her dresser or desk! She has this poster of Gollum that used to give me nightmares. But now I love Gollum. He's so awesome!

Vile, Tree-hugging Hippie garbage. The Sixties
are over. Tolkien loved trees, eh? Wonder how many
died to print this overly long drivel? And the
films! Sure looked like a lot of wood was used in
the making of these snore fests... I mean epic
    masterpieces. I-)

The books are good, and I feel Jackson's adaptations are the best example of a film series maintaining a high level of quality in every installment.

From the Lowest dungeon to the highest peak
I fought with the Balrog of Morgoth
until at last I threw down my enemy
and smote his ruin upon the mountainside.

It's okay, but it's not the greatest book ever. Tolkien is an excellent writer, though.

I love it! Ranks second of my fav stuff after Star Wars. Except all the characters everyone thinks are cool I can't stand. (Legolas, Aragorn, Frodo...) Peter Jackson really killed Eowyn/Faramir/Boromir's parts! Grr.

Now that I read my post it's kinda dumb. I really got into LOTR waiting for the next SW movie to come out. Now that ROTS is out LOTR is second on my list.SW is number one.

Sorry to say, but I don't like it. The books are too "heavy" for me :p

One of the greatest books ever written.

I have some issues with the films, though. Mostly characterization. But despite my purist tendencies, they're still great movies.

Lord of the rings is probably the best book I've read in regards to world building and reinventing mythological symbols.

It's not the most well written piece of literature I've read but thanks to Tolkien's imagination it ranks high on my all time favorite books-list.
