Yes, it only pertains to homosexuals and therefore it is a homosexual rights issue in a certain sense, but homosexual marriage is a gender rights issue. I have the legal competence to marry any woman who is willing. A woman has the legal competence to marry any man who is willing. What I do not have is the same legal competence as a woman - that is, the ability to marry a man. Likewise, she does not have the ability to marry a woman. (In New Mexico as of today) Homosexual marriage is fundamentally a gender rights issue and not a homosexual rights issue. No one is being denied anything because of their orientation. They are being denied something because of their gender.
