Absolutely. All of the books are one big picture, so continunity is extremely important.

Yes, definitely. I mean, I'd still be entertained by the EU, but it would be a big disappointment.

It would also be confusing as all get out.

While I would like an Alt. universe, I want full continuality in the present universe.

Only Fire would think of establishing such a pointless, unnecessary poll.

    :p

Of course. Without continuity there is no credibility.

Why wouldn't there be continuity? This all happened a long time ago, this is just history!

Val: Kidding aside, it's not an unnecessary poll.

Right now over on the Dark Horse Comics message boards, one of the editors is asking fans thoughts on continunty, alluding pretty heavily that he's not too keen on it at the moment.
I just thought it would be interesting to see how the Lit forum would vote.

I don't think I would be reading any of the EU if it weren't for the continuity.

Some of the things that got me (more) interested in the EU were TimeTales and SW Timeline Gold.

Oui! Continuity is the only thing that kept me reading SW near the end of Bantam's run. If I want random stories that affect nothing, I'll read Star Trek.

Well put, wild kaarde. (Don't you hate the Star Trek episodes where in the last five minutes they reconfigure the damper arrays and fly away from the aliens who are never referred to again?)

I know it's a lot to ask of a new Star Wars author to be intimately familiar with everything Star Wars that's ever been published. I think a quality author is more important than a StarWars-knowledgeable author. But there should be a "Bible" of some sort about the EU for them to do research with, sort of like how they would obviously do research about the civil war before writing a novel about it. That way they know major events and characters that won't cause conflicts with their story.

Actually, such a bible exists at LFL, according to Secrets of SOTE.

If it leads to good stories, hurrah I say! But from what I see, continuity leads to too much status quo, and I'm never a fan of that. Oh well, at least it ain't as bad as Batman comics in the post-"Officer Down" days :p

'Sides, I mostly only read Zahn's books, so I don't really care about continuity *shrug*
