Do you think Star wars games should be more movie related?

Personally, I don't think it hurts to continue to make Star Wars movie related games. Maybe there have been quite a few, but as long as it's still going strong and is still popular, it would be moronic and bad business to quit. However, at the same time, it would also be a good idea to expand upon that and go into the EU and other generes.

 

Most games try and fail, it's better to try and go in a new direction and show what happens beyond the camera. Most Starwars games suck at trying to recreate movies because they are half-assed, those that aim for originality are always better.

 

It'd be cool if they made a new Rogue Squadron game based on the X-wing books, so you can fly around on Borleias, Coruscant, and fight against enemies like Isard, Zsinj and Thrawn.

The Star Wars movies are stupid anyways.

 

I would actually love to see more games based on the movies, both Prequel and Original trilogy.

It's funny, back when all the Star Wars games that came out were arcade flight shooters, and on rail shooters, I always craved and desperately wanted games with lightsabers in them. Sure the flight games were great, but I wanted nothing more than a game based on lightsaber combat.

Now that we have some, but still outnumbered by the flying shooters, lightsaber "simulators", if you will, it still feels like there could be more. So hopefully, if there are more movie games made, the focus will be on making a lightsaber game with vehicular flight levels.

 

Although I do love the Star Wars games that are based on the movies, I feel that the EU games are a lot more fun. You get to become attached to new characters and get involved in new stories and new conflicts. It's a lot more fun and engaging that way. Though I still don't think they should stop making movie based games. Thos are still fun.

I think that star wars video games over the last 2 1/2 years have improved a lot. Especially for the console systems. From Knights of the Old Republic to Battlefront, to Republic Commando, and the Lego game. They may not be a Halo or Doom, but they have shown dramatic improvement. Can't wait for E-3 videogame, and the Empire PC game at the end of the year. On one note: I loved Knights of the Old Republic 2, but the cut scenes brought it down a notch for me. Still successful though.
