You can get toy versions (which are actually very good looking and have blue lights) from places like play.com

But, where the hell do people get their long coats from!?!?!?! I have not found one ANYWHERE!!

    Thanks Jules! :)

The Sonic Screwdriver is made by Character Creations. It has a purple-blue UV light that helps show off the invisible pen nib that comes with the Screwdriver (the black end is also a pen). I got 2 from eBay :)

The costume, aside from the shirt and shoes is fully custom made. :)

I've long thought it would be the best thing ever to have two guys dress as Captain Jack (Harkness) and Captain Jack (Sparrow) and walk around a con together. I mean. Would that not be mind-blowingly awesome?

There is a Dr. Who costume group that gets together for the Dragon*Con Parade.
You can chat about Dr. Who costumes here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PrydonAcademy
For reference photos of Dr. Who costumes check: http://www.shillpages.com/dw/dwia.htm

I have not made any New Series Dr. Who costumes (yet) but I have done a few Classic DW: Romana II & K9, and Jo Grant.
Photos here: http://www.dotphoto.com/go.asp?l=queenamidala&AID=2556340 I made the Jo Grant costume specially for Katy Manning's guest visit, a few years ago, to Gallifrey: http://www.gallifreyone.com/gallifrey.php in LA.

FYI: It's possible to make several of The Doctor's costumes by modifying thrift store finds. You can get more details over at the yahoo group.

Thanks for starting this thread! I was actually considering putting together a Dr. Who costume for my husband this year. (He keeps saying he wants to make a sonic screwdriver!) I'm not sure if I'll have time after D*Con for anything elaborate, but the links will help me get started. I have a feeling given the limeted time I will have to choose a 'thrift store' Doctor if he'll agree to it ;)

you can also get the new sonic screwdrivers here:

    http://www.whona.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=W&Product_Code=1128361592&Category_Code=cotoys

although they seem to be out at the moment.

Heard a funny story, which I hope is true. Seems that the screwdrivers the prop people made for the show were more than a little fragile, and kept breaking. Someone pointed out that the licensed toy was a quite accurate interpretation of the prop, and was reasonably sturdy. So they decided to use the toy on the show. So it's not only a replica, it's an EXACT replica.

I'm planning on making Rose's pink 50's dress from the 7th ep of the second season (new series) 'The Idiot's Lantern'. I know there was a girl at D*C with that costume (She's in the Dr Who costume community on LJ). It's such a gorgeous dress (I love 50's styled clothes) so I'm really looking forward to making it! We have a 10th Dr, I couldn't let him not have a Rose! :p

Actually thats not completely accurate. BBC used the MOLDS for the SS but still had alot of different details for the one used in Season 2.
