Amph Doctor Who Discussion (Russell T. Davies returns)

I want Wilf to meet 12.

 

I wanted Wilf to meet Eleven as well.

 

I was chatting with a friend about the last episode and had a thought... Wouldn't Doc12 have recognised the broken toy soldier in young Rupert's room? It was the focus of discussion and 12 definitely was aware of it (he said something like "I gave him dreams of Dan the soldier man"). We see Clara give the toy to the boy in the barn.

This makes me think it couldn't have been The Doctor, unless it's sloppy convenient writing, or some sort of timey wimey consequence of the past not yet having been written that way. I like to think it could be The Master - and The Doctor could easily be one of the other of the children inside the house.

In my headcannon, the voices of the man and woman whose feet we see in that scene in the barn were the two heads of The Doctor's Godmother, by the way.

 

Currently at University right now and I have just become aware pressing controversial issue; voting for Scottish Independence is today. What becomes of Capaldi's contract if Scotland are independent?

 

You really think an actor's contract would be nullified because his country changed its status? And even if it had the potential to, that the BBC wouldn't renew it? Really?

 

Isn't Moffat Scottish too?

 

I expect them to paint a white cross on the TARDIS.

 

As am I, and that vote totally ruined my sleep, and I can't even vote. Yes a white cross on the TARDIS, that should do the trick. But I don't think you really need to worry, maybe it's just me not wishing to get my hopes up, but I really don't see the yes winning, more's the pity.

 

The Stolen Earth, etcetera, was awesome. Fantastic pair of episodes.

Only couple things I did not like. Apparently visible breeze blocks in the walls of the Shadow Proclamation - sorry, could not ignore that.

And K9. I don't care about technical limitations with filming. When Daleks steal your planet, and invade to the point where they are gliding down suburban streets and rounding up citizens, pull the ******* robot dog out of the closet!

 

I'm not sure how outing K-9 would help anybody.

Yeah, it seemed odd to have all the companions who were apart of the Tennant era in The Stolen Earth/Journey's End coming together to fight the Daleks and not have K-9 there.

Add better written and more likeable characters to that too. Sparkling bloodsuckers can face Blade's wrath.

 

Yeah, say what you will about Moffat's writing, but it's far and away better than Twilight and other crap that tries to imitate it.

 

I feel like one of the few on the interwebz who mostly loves Moffat's writing.

 

I love Moffat's writing. At least, I love what he's capable of. When he's at his best he's phenomenal. The problem is it doesn't happen as regularly as it should.

 

I think that's what makes his era feel more disappointing to me than it actually is.
