This new series seems to extend my idea that the dream scape of the Christmas episode (and, I suspect, the last series), could still be in place.

How much you want to bet we won't be getting those Daleks anytime soon? *sigh*

 

There was one monster at the symphonic spectacular I didn't recognise. Humanoid. Black suit with silver. Looked like a gimp mask with 3-4 small iron bars obscuring the mouth. Any ideas?

 

On the database I looked at, this seems the closest look, although not that close to your description.

 

No, the bars were vertical and the eyes were separate and sunken, but like a gas mask. I'm assuming it's Nu Who as everything was

 

Whisperman perhaps? Or one of the ones from Akhaten?

And it's a fine thing that he did. Imagine if we got only 90 minutes of him in 1996 and only 5 minutes of him in 2013. No thanks. Though it was sad that McGann's Doctor was victim to this

 

I blame FOX (I always do with quality sci - fi that gets botched and shelved - thank goodness for the BBC owning Who so that we got to see Eccleston, Tennant, Smith and Capalid's doctors).

 

Bit of a slam on Eric Roberts there, but I liked the way they complimented Paul McGann. I also liked the comment, "But think of all the Big Finish you could have done!"

And, as I understand it, it was indeed Fox turning it down that put the brakes on the situation. And the copyright hassles with Universal kept the show from even mentioning the movie for quite a while.

 

And apparently a misunderstanding about rights issues with FOX that helped keep Who off the air for nearly a decade after the movie.

 

Thank goodness Fox kept away from the Daleks.

 

Speaking of the Daleks, TCM is running six time travel movies tonight starting at 8PM EDT. "Dr. Who and the Daleks" is scheduled for 12M, while the marathon also includes "Time After Time", "The Time Machine" and "World Without End". Yes, they violate the canon, yes they miss the point and yes they're utterly clueless. But, the Cushing films are damn good fun. Check them out!
