Amph Doctor Who Discussion (Russell T. Davies returns)

Finally obtained 12th Doctor Touch Sonic Screwdriver, and I've been having fun just randomly pointing at stuff and Sonicing.

Toy itself is pretty good, show accuracy is decent, sound is crystal clear and can be heard, the spring and claw attachment works fine, touch control is very responsive, it's all that I wanted. The Power Core accessory is a little weird though, as it has no use whatsoever. If I had the money, I'd get is a Classic Sonic to offset the New one, and I decided with 3rd since he's my favorite Classic Doctor. I heard though his Sonic toy is good for what it is, but the rubber head emitter isn't all too sturdy, and it recycles the 9th/10th Doctor sound chop instead of using its original sound.

I think the next model Sonic will come once the 13th Doctor rolls around, as 9 and 10 shared, and 11 and 12 shared. But at a certain point in the show, I want them to adapt the Sonic Spoon that 12 used in the novel "Blood Cell".

Yeah, sorry, good attempt, but that Sonic Spoon fails because it has a green emitter, and we all know that the only true emitter of the Sonic Spoon is the black one from the Sonic Genesis.

Big Finish is apparently offering a few of their audios free to download on their stormcloud page.

 

As they have been doing for a while now. Most are "part one", but there are a few complete adventures.

 

There are some self-contained half-hour Tom Baker/Louise Jameson Doctor Who adventures on BBC Radio 4 Extra at the moment, but I don't know how accessible they are to people outside of the UK.

 

Radio 4 Extra works outside the UK, but the visual programming does not.

 

BBC News is reporting that Sir John Hurt (the War Doctor) has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.


The 75-year-old, who was Oscar-nominated for his role in 1980's The Elephant Man, said he would continue working despite the diagnosis.
"I am undergoing treatment and am more than optimistic about a satisfactory outcome, as indeed is the medical team," he told the Press Association.

 

Best wishes for Sir Hurt's recovery.

This is a huge surprise. With stuff going this far, it makes me wonder if Big Finish will manage to go all the away and eventually sync up with New Who completely.
