Which I'm guessing turned out not to be true.

I heard Murry Gold's 50th anniversary song was debuting at the proms tonight. If it did, how did it sound?

Edit: Also reports are that Peter Davison has been added to those of the Who alum appearing at Dragon*Con

That was... weird. I guess he tried for epicness, but the "lyrics" look like they've been written by an overexcited and not very good fanfic writer with a dictionary of grand words that don't really go together. It just doesn't flow. I'm not even sure what it's trying to be - it's not a song, it's not an orchestral piece... it's like a bad speech set to music.

Anyway, Everton and I agree that they should've used this instead:

Agreed. It was a weird little piece. Thankfully the rest of the evening made up for it. Peter Davison and Carol Ford appearing on stage were particular highlights.

Yikes. That's not actually gonna be in the 50th, is it?

It reads like it was translated from some Japanese fighting robots show.

If they felt the need to use an awful tribute song, the least they could have done was have it be Jon Pertwee's.

    Juliet: [:D] Thanks.

I got broadsided worse with that one than with Father's Day, probably because I've come to love the character so much. :_|

The rest of the episode: The opening was ****ing awesome, with the Doctor disintegrating all the cybermen at once and telling everyone to run.

Pete the double agent? Hmmm...that wasn't a total surprise.

I couldn't tell at first if Mickey or Ricky got killed after Lumic took over London; I was glad to see Mickey stand up for himself and defend his abilities around Jake and the Doctor. I was also glad to see that he and the Doctor seemed to make their peace, even if the Doctor was giving him backhanded compliments all the way to the end.

The several conversations about the differences between humans and cybermen and how the conversion process worked were interesting and sad. And geez, that poor bride-to-be turned cyberperson who got her emotions turned back on and complained about being "cold." :(

Ah, Lumic...the pursuit of immortality is as old as time itself and has never led to anything good. I had thought Jake was a bit of an ass but he turned it around.

And Rose...I know you want your father back really, really badly but girl, that was stupid.

Mickey...there's no backtracking on this one. Why??? :_| That was a very hard way for Rose to realize how much she had taken him for granted.

And Rose's return: "Mum, you're alive!" "Last I checked." LOL. And Mickey "went home." :_|

    *HUGS* It'll be okay.

Part of why I like Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel eps so much is that they are very very much Mickey's story. Where he ultimately comes of age and is ultimately the one that saves the day and decides what he wants out of his life. Even if that means leaving everything he knew behind.

North American Blu-ray release of Series 1-7 (9's and 10's series being remastered for BR), and there is a UK version coming with slightly different artwork, apparently.

EDIT: And yes, that's a Universal Remote Control Sonic Screwdriver.

They can do all the "remastering" they want. If series 1-4 were shot on SD video (and I'm 99% sure they were), they're not going to look much better on Blu-ray than they did on DVD. That definitely would not be worth the extra expense.

The Next Doctor was shot in SD and is available on Blu-ray. That's pretty much the best level of quality we can expect.

Seeing Nine, Ten and Eleven together like that just makes me even more upset Chris turned down the opportunity to appear in the 50th. :(
