While I won't say I'll be completely finished with this show, it will take a massive nosedive of interest for me if this were to happen. Capaldi gone after expressing countless interest of wanting to be The Doctor for as long as possible, Mackie gone after only one season and barely knowing anything about her, and most damning of all wanting to go back to young heartthrobs playing the role?

Based on the story, all we need to do is buy more Capaldi merchandise and the BBC will go with what they have. Otherwise, God save us from meddling network types. The stories in Series 9 were kind of a mixed bag, in my opinion, but that's no reason to force Capaldi out and take a big step backwards.

Moffat needs to go, Capaldi needs to stay, don't care about the new companion as we know nothing of her yet, and most importantly, the Doctor needs to become the main character again. If that constitutes a major shakeup, then yes, please.

If their idea of a major shakeup to to attempt to artificially recapture the lightning in a bottle era by, what very much sounds like, using the most basic of elements as a stencil to structure series 10, then the BBC truly are desperate. Capaldi is fine, the writing is what needs to change.

To be fair though the source is the Daily Mirror who time after time report "doom and gloom" for Doctor Who. Occasionally they get things right (Davros for one and The Master for another) but sometimes that isn't particularly hard- if you know The Master was coming back then Davros isn't a huge leap. Though for both they reported a widely different version of events of what did actually happen in those episodes.

    Pay no attention to it.

(What Merchandise? There is less now than back in 2005! They had a figure line that made a come back for one series.)

Wasn't the Mirror the same rag that reported Matt Smith storming off the set and quitting before S7 started?

Yeah... I'll wait for a more credible source before panicking.

Yes, it's The Mirror and thus can be ignored entirely. It makes up stupid stories about Doctor Who every couple of months and is invariably wrong.

Two Series 10 writers announced: http://www.doctorwhonews.net/2016/11/new-series-10-writers-announced.html

Rona Munro was the writer of Survival, which is probably in the my top 5 of all Doctor Who stories, so this is good news indeed.

Jamie Mathieson wrote Mummy on the Orient Express, Flatline and the Girl Who Died. I really liked Flatline, it had some very inventive visuals.

I'm switching between Rutgers vs. Penn State and "Power of the Daleks" on BBC America. Re: the latter, I'm having a problem with the animation, especially when it shows people walking or moving. It just looks to me like Terry Gilliam's work on Python. Anyone else have that problem?

The Doctor Who animation stuff has always been sketchy, no pun intended. It comes off like it doesn't want to know whether or not it wants to be stylized or just cartoony.

The animation reconstruction of The Invasion I feel is spot on, and I wish it would've been applied to more stuff.

...and fifty years later, this was broadcast, also on BBC 1...

Oh, and I'm taking a break from MST3K to mark the anniversary by watching my new copy of "The Enemy of the World". Which episode did you watch?

Just finished watching The Power of the Daleks animation.

The story is definitely a good one, the sense of menace around the Daleks is expertly crafted. Troughton settles into the role much faster than I imagined, and the supporting characters were interesting, as was their interplay.

The animation takes some getting used to, but I soon got used to it.

I noticed a few production errors in the animation. In Episode 1, Ben and Polly are shown in the Colony's clothes, before they were supposed to actually have changed. They revert in the next shot.

In episode 6, Janley's armband switches sides in one scene.

It's a shame that the telesnap reconstruction is like the one for Underwater Menace, which doesn't integrate surviving footage, or full credits sequences. The narration by Anneke Wills is a step up from Menace though, as there were often long stretches of nothing happening in Menace, with only a still photo to stare at.

I just listened to Davros (the Big Finish audio) the other day, and Wendy Padbury gave a great performance as a new character.

It managed to sound very distinct from Zoe, and was a role very different from anything Zoe did in the show.
