Does anyone else wish Kyle Katarn, Jan Ors, and Corran Horn had larger roles?

In the NJO series I've notice Corran Horn, Kyle Katarn, and Jan Ors are not featured, or unless I missed a few paragraphs, not enough. I'm not sure how everyone else feels about Jan and Kyle, but I love those characters. And I know many fans love the Corran Horn character, so why are they not featured as much. I don't know, those three I'm a fan of, and would like to read about more often. None of them are dead are they?

corron horn has been features multiple times in the series. Kyle Katarn just a throwaway passage in the who's who of the NJO article in insider.

I guess you didn't read Dark Tide. Every other sentence had something to do with Corran. :p

But yes, I wish Katarn had a bigger role..he deserves it.

It irritates me that Kyle doesn't get so much as a tiny cameo in any EU books. It would make the EU hang together better instead of having Kyle exist in some sort of parallel universe.

What I meant with Corran Horn wasn't him not being in the series, just not having a larger role like Anakin Solo, or Kyp Durron and so on. I've never understood why they never featured Kyle Katarn like they should. He's a great character. I guess evryone just forgot about him. Perhaps he'll have some type of role in the series after NJO.

Corran said it best himself-he and Luke belong to an older generation of Jedi. The focus is on the new ones.

The video games are part of the EU. EU is made up of vast degree of various media.

Also, Kyle doesn't play video games that I know of, ;).

"Katarn is a video gamer, he shouldn't be in the EU"

Why not? It doesn't really make sense to me for the games and novels to exist separately. It makes the EU seem fractured somehow IMO. Also, the games are part of the EU, aren't they?

Yes video games are part of LFL's plan to expand the star wars universe in multimedia directions.

All sources get refrenced in other sources. Not all characters are used by every author. You don't see cole fardreamer show up more than one book, etc.

I'm sorry if this sounds weird on my part, but I wouldn't mind Wedge being involved in the books as well. There are just so many characters I wish were written about.

Keyan farlander was a video game character and got mentioned in a novel(darktide series). Even got his own novels. Kyle Katarn has his own novels too. So think logically please.

Ya know, Wedge is more than developped in the X-Wing books (9 novels, 9 comics), among other appearances, including the Jedi Academy trilogy, the Dark Empire comics and finally quite some work in the New Jedi Order...

Yes, Kyle has his own novels, but they're out of print. Also, they aren't like the other novels and, although they are rather cool, they do little to mend the chasm between Kyle and the rest of the EU. In face, Luke's cameo in Rebel Agent makes it seem even more like a parallel universe because we know Luke has met Kyle and considers his quest to the Valley of the Jedi to be of considerable imprtance, yet he doesn't refer to it once in all the other novels.

"Yes, Kyle has his own novels, but they're out of print."

Not out of print the last time I checked. Amazon still carries them in stock, as does darkhorse.com.

"Also, they aren't like the other novels and, although they are rather cool, they do little to mend the chasm between Kyle and the rest of the EU."

Lots of links to other novels, thrawn makes an appearance, vuffi raa from the lando books, mention of taprawa half of the death star plans(links to Han solo trilogy), etc.

"In face, Luke's cameo in Rebel Agent makes it seem even more like a parallel universe because we know Luke has met Kyle and considers his quest to the Valley of the Jedi to be of considerable imprtance, yet he doesn't refer to it once in all the other novels."

What reason is there to mention the battle of ruusan over and over. The story was finished and didn't have to be brought up all the time. Haven't you noticed how lame it is when they mention events from the movies ad nauseum?

Also in the upcoming outcast things will be explained further, luke will make a big appearance according to the producers. Also kyle katarn works for the NRI creating new strategies and stuff. He isn't as prominent a jedi, and in a rather sensitive career sector that would keep him out of the limelight according to insider.

Also check out the essential chronology and all the essential guides for refrences to the dark forces series, and expansion information on certain characters pasts. Did you know that SD-9-10 battledroid line from dark empire used stolen dark trooper programming because it was just that good?

I won't even mention how many times Darth Bane has been included into the battle of ruusan, even having a comic and a short story. Plus another short story that takes place right before the battle of ruusan, but I did mention it didn't I, ;).

Hmm, I tried to order those novels from Amazon but they said they were out of print. Was that not the case? I ended up getting them from alibris.com; a site specialising in out of print and hard to find books.

The Prophecy from Jedi Knight is even mnentioned in the comic series.

Amazon has them listed as able to order within 24 hours(though at times they do lose there inventory and there computer changes the numbers to few days or out of print, until the get a new supply). But beyond that if they were out of print that is not part of the equation for something not being part of continuity. Just look at how much was taken from WEG for all the novels and other sources. Those books are out of print, but still used to this day as refrence material for all new star wars books, or resources.

Empire's end is out of print but still valid useful part of the continuity. Stele Chronicles and farlander papers are out of print, but still used in modern sources.

Here's an interesting fact, did you know that Jan Ors got refrenced into one of the second Galaxy Guides that WEG printed?

I know who Kyle Katarn is but who is Jan? I'm not a gamer but IMO all of the characters are part of the EU whether they are introduced in movies, books, comics or games. I'm a great fan of Winter and I have searched but failed to get my hands on some of the comics which featured her. I finding settled with "Time Tales."

Jan Ors is Kyle's best friend. She is the pilot of Kyle's ship the Moldy Crow. She's featured in the game Jedi Knight II. I think she and Kyle have a thing for each other :)

Corran should be featured to the exclusion of irrelevant characters such as, say, Luke. [face_devil]

j/k (in case you couldn't tell)
