Discussion Does anyone have ideas for Episode VII that don't undermine the previous films?

You have a point, but at the same time the films say the Sith would not return. That doesn't mean that one of Luke's students can't fall to the dark side and turn into an Izan, or whatever dark side monastic order they come up with.

What if the ST is really, really good? I mean, like incredibly good? Would that over-shadow the OT or PT?

Yeah, I interpreted it as coming more from Mace's own grim determination than anything else.

 

It would be nice to see the Nightsisters as villains I guess. and maybe see new bounty hunters and possibly Black Sun.

Would it make George look bad if a newcomer like JJ walks in and surpasses George's "vision" and takes it a step further? I think the OT is safe from most criticisms, but what if the ST blows the doors off the PT? Would people think less of GL?

I think it's highly unlikely it will be considerably be better than the OT, originals are always best because they set the marker and created the franchise in the first place.

 

No matter how loud the fans have been, it hasn't changed the minds of the people who like the PT. It won't change how they feel about the films, even if they are superior. And I also think that at this point, it's very difficult to surpass those films.
