Does anyone know what the tauntaun guts are actually made of?

In the scene where Han Solo cuts open the Tauntaun to save Luke from freezing, what kind of animal guts (if any) were used?

Every time I see them I think of the long, thin balloons circus people use to make into animal shapes.

It looks like clear tube baloons, with probably some food or liquids all mixed together to give it that goo look.

I don't think real animal guts were used. That would be unnecessary.

It also looks like it could be that clear-whitish plastic tubing, in different sizes, that could have been deformed by heat, along with a mix of some fake puke.

I just loved that scene because it was a non jedi using a lightsaber.

I always wondered how Han just knew how to turn it on. Theres like, 3 different switches on that saber, all of which look like it could turn it on.

Condoms? Whoa, bet Luke enjoyed himself in there![face_sick]

I actually always thought it's guts looked like those deep-sea worms that live on underwater volcanoes? For anyone who watches David Attemborough too, you'll know what I'm talking about!:p

Sublime: I'm sure, at some point in the preceding three years, Luke turned his lightsabre on in front of Han at least once. Han just has a good memory. :p

Then again, when I was like six and I saw Han use Luke's sabre, I was quite solidly convinced that Han was a Jedi too.

Whoever said Pig intestines may be right. Those look like the pig intestines I was unfortuanate enough to see on a field trip when I was 6. But I stick to my original theory that they're clear balloons filled up with water and gooey stuff.

I think I see a giraffe in there, actually. Now, if they could make a tauntaun out of tauntaun gut balloons, I'd be impressed.

Actually they really do look like pig intestines (aka sausage casings) filled with air or maybe water. I've made quite a bit of homemade sausage in my day, and it's remarkably similar. They could be synthetic casings as well, which have a smoother texture.. or a combination of both. Maybe they blew air into the intestines to make the gush out when the saber cut them.

Just watch this old Kenner commercial to see the toys you missed back in the day!

(It's a SW commercial, I promise. Is there a thing about you tube posts here? Don't want to get into trouble..)
