JCC Does Anyone Sick of Reaction Videos?

But, like I said, a lot of the time they're not even reviewing, they're just talking out to the camera or discussing with another fan and it's just a group of people talking about something as fans. Like the conversations in here, except you can't sign up and participate. Then again, I guess a lot of proffessional podcasts are basically the same thing.

Never watched a reaction video really because alls I see is someone going "OOOOHHHHHH!!!" in the freeze frame so I don't watch.

...well, okay, I saw Jon Boyega and Daisy Ridley react to the Star Wars trailers but, c'mon, that's entirely different! Really! Please?

To bad this thread isn't the same content as a reaction video. It's a commentary on the pattern or phenomenon of these types on the Internet, not a direct response or review of a specific creation.

 

Or don't watch and encounter mostly in the searches for real videos which are being commented on such as trailers. The search takes up more time because all of the different videos mentioned.

So, was looking to see if there's a thread on this -- I've been slowly falling down the rabbit hole of reaction videos. It started with Avengers: Endgame, which was legitimately one of the most amazing theater experiences I've had (it was like a more joyful version of what old-school NY cinema was like for later-night Friday night shows in the late-80s/early-90s). So, I'd been watching some of the reaction videos (all illegal in this case) of people filming folks' reactions in the theater for Endgame...

From there, I think I've watched more reaction videos for The Mandalorian S208 ("The Rescue") than the episode is long and have started watching reaction videos on the regular now.

I've really enjoyed the guys running Preview'd (they're also local to NYC). I think Spider-Fan (from here) has also just started his own as well.

 

I’d rather read people reactions here and imagine their faces (or my own).

Alas, the YT silly face thumbnail is a thing that the algorithms determine gets more views and revenue...I was told so much by a tech reviewer who took offense to my pointing out those thumbnails pushed me away from his commentaries.

 

Gaming the algorithm is like 90% of a YouTuber's job.

 

Can't stand them.

And I don't watch Nikki/Steven specifically but I do recognize them from the compiled Mando reaction videos and (I think) the WandaVision ep5 compiled reaction video...

 

I truly despise the trend over the last few years of "person of x profession reacts to something related to their profession."

@dp4m I propose you make a new series starting with "REAL LIFE JEWISH BANKER REACTS TO TRADING PLACES!"

 

They're all wretched, although for my money the worst might be "REAL LAWYER [always American] REACTS TO [Literally any depiction of a non-American court system]".

 

Oh yeah the one that sealed the deal for me was when I was recommended "Real lawyer reacts to Lionel Hutz scenes" or something.
