Does Leia think that Jabba is an idiot?

In RotJ, Leia pulls that same trick that Han and Luke played in the detention block in ANH.

In RotJ we see Chewbacca being escorted into Jabbas meeting room and we can see that he is not truly restrained. Does Leia think that Jabba is an idiot? Does this stupidity become a red flag for Jabba?

If Chewbacca is the "Mighty Chewbacca" wouldn't it have made more sence to have Chewbacca restrained more instead of having him just walk in?

Does Leia think that Jabba is an idiot? Does she think she can free Han in an evening?

With a plot like this I can see why Harrison Ford wanted his character of Han Solo to die.

 

I never thought about it, but now that you mention it, the continuity is illogical. Jabba would have known that Chewbacca could have easily killed Bossh (Leia).

This is yet another reason to dislike RotJ. The title should have read...

thermal detonator. im sure Bosshh could have flipped the switch while Chewie was ripping her arms out.......somehow.....

Finally, someone posted a thread that addresses this question. I wish that this was the scene that GL and ILM worked on for the SE.

I think that there would have been a better way to have made this scene to work.

 

Wow. I can't believe I never thought about this before. It does seem pretty stupid. Maybe it was part of the original plan for Chewie to break loose and do something like he did in the detention area?

 

Perhaps this was the clue that made Jabba realise that Boussh wasn't all that "he" made out to be?

 

maybe when Lando put, "Jedi Master Luke Skywalker" as his supervisor on his resume to work at Jabba's Palace, it tipped Jabba off to develop his own plan. Jabba got to his speeder pretty quick to get them to the sarlacc pit, i bet they were being warmed up out back or something.

 

Maybe Leia didn't think about it when she put the handcuffs on him.

 

I thought of this earlier, but I am just mentioning it now. Liea didn't know about how Luke and Han infiltrated the Detention center unless they told her about it later (I doubt it). I think that it was just her womanly stupidity that caused her to not put any binders on Chewie.

Calm down people, I was kiding about the whole "womanly supidity" thing.

 

Never thought about that, and personally, it doesn't bother me. Perhaps Jabba could think that Chewie wouldn't dare try anything being surrounded by so many of Jabba's henchman, and for all Jabba knew, maybe Boussh transported Chewie to the palace in some kind of restraining vehicle.

But like I said, personally, this could hardly affect my feelings for ROTJ. I'm sure within moments of posting my reply, this tidbit won't even register on my "Things I'm Thinking of While Watching ROTJ" list.

 

On a sort of related sidenote, did Leia's Boussh "personality" have a name? This is probably written in the Shadows of the Empire book (of which I will read after the Clone War is over).

Yeah, Leia thinks he's nice. After all he was so genrous to give her nice langerie, and then making her wear it in front of everyone. He embarassed the princess for cring out loud. Not that I didn't like her in that bikini, but that's beside the point. If only she would've lost those stupid boots, I mean who wears boots with a bikini.

 

This is EU, but they were probably Stun Cuffs, a common device in the galaxy. If someone resists too much about them, it releases a charge that stuns a person instantly.

Well, he doesn't exactly ooze charismatic charm or diplomacy - or a razor sharp mind. He got his way with more of brute force, and let's face it: he's a giant slug.

I thought it was Boussh. I was always under the impression that Boussh was a real bounty hunter who had been killed, and his (or her) costume was used by Leia since Boussh was already an established bounty hunter. Perhaps I need to read SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE again.

Wow. A concept that had totally slipped my mind as well. In fact I never even realized that Chewie was not restrained, or at least it did not click in my head.

Perhaps as Wenley said this was the evidence that convinced Jabba to keep an eye on her.

In regards to the thermal detonator, they are equipped with a dead man's switch, so if she would have died it would've gone off. I'm pretty sure it was set to that mode when she was haggling for more cash.

 

I don't think Jabba is stupid. He ran a really powerfull organization despite the Empire, made a lot of money...

 

Why restrain Chewie? He was housebroken by that point

It was probably Luke who came up with the idea knowing that she'd 'defrost' Han as soon as she could and be captured by Jabba. Jabba liking Female humans would keep her close to him so when it was Luke turn to put in an appearance he knew he wouldnt have to look very far for her.
