Does Mace avoid Dooku in AOTC ?

just speculating, but toward the very end of aotc when the war is going on, does mace intentionally avoid trying to track down dooku ?

Yoda takes off to the forward commande centre, but mace seems to happy fighting leading the clones, rather than tracking down dooku.

 

Good point, actually.

The Jedi are supposed to act as generals for the clonetroopers...or at least, that's their role in the Clone Wars.

I assumed that they really had no idea where Dooku was, so Mace led a bunch of troops on the ground while Yoda went to the Command base.

It was only the Will of the Force that Obi-Wan and Anakin saw Dooku escaping - he could have been anywhere.

do you think he knew he would find dooku ?

 

Perhaps he is not quite as good as Yoda in sensing the Force, so he could not feel where Dooku was.
After all, Yoda was the one who sensed Anakin run amuck in the Tusken camp, whereas Mace had to ask him "What is it?"

 

Mace had the obligation of leading the clones is all.

 

Of course Mace avoided Dooku, as he knew Dooku would lay the smackdown on him if they were to meet in one-on-one combat, putting to rest the theory that he is the second baddest dude in the universe.

 

Actually, the clones said that they had several special units waiting for him, not the other way around. The obligation didn't come from him.

 

On the point of Yoda, he only found Dooku because he sensed the unease between Anakin and Obi-Wan imo and went on a hunch.

Dooku would've been clouding his position with the force.
