If you are a VIP, Mod ECT ECT does the head admin (vertical, commander Antilles and Nathan) have the right to go in and see if your password is hard enough?

And who says they stop at VIP's and Mods?

Should they be allowed to do this? Or even go read a trouble members PM, who might be saying bad things about them or the boards? And if there was a complaint is it justified?

Just looking for some answers here, when is an administrator allowed to log in as you to see your password and PM's? Where do they draw the line at privacy

Edit: Okay, we have the answer. If anything needs to be added, PM me.

True, on the matter of faking death and harrasment I can see a use for it, other then that though can it be justified?

We don't log in as you unless you give us permission, and then only long enough to solve whatever problem you're having (i.e., someone sending you harassing PM's, etc.).

And unless you're in a private board, such as the Mod Squad or Advisory Council, we don't care how hard your password is to guess.

That would be subjective in all but the most obvious of cases.

I don't see why this is an issue, unless there has been some instance that I am unaware of in which an admin has abused this privledge.

I had no problems with Vert checking to make sure that my password was to the requirements needed. Actually, I never even gave it a second thought...

I was unaware of any such requirements. What are they?

    okay that I understand

This I do not understand.. other then not using words in a password you make it no more secure then another.

The Jedi Council Administration has the right but not the obligation to monitor and/or moderate the Forums, and offers no assurances in this regard.
    -The Terms of Service

I can guarantee that we Moderators get our passwords checked more than any other group on the boards, and I don?t have a problem with it.

It?s a tool that I believe that someone needs to have. Only by being able to see passwords are Administrators able to verify PM?s when someone claims that they?re being flamed via PM, and it is useful for Administrators to be able to edit out offensive signatures.

It?s an ability that only a very small number of users have, and those that do have it have proven themselves very responsible in the past.

    Note: Nice colors, Windy ;)

AA let me get this right.

You're angry about this for no other reason then because an admin might look at a mods password to make sure it wasn't easily guessable?

    You must be really desperate.

That I understand. I dont see why you need to though when you have your user password and moderator password though.

It isn't lately, its been that way for a few months now. Every couple of months the mods have to change their passwords, and it has to be something difficult to crack. One of the Admins chooses when and gives us 48 hours or so to do it.

This paranoia is all in response to a nasty bit of business involving one ?DarthPsychotic.? We Moderators now have to change our log-in passwords on a regular basis, to keep down the likelihood that our passwords will be cracked. Also, all new Moderators are now required to take DNA testing to prove that they are not DP.

To log in, we need our regular passwords, like everyone else. To use our powers, we need an admin password. This is so that even if someone does get our regular password, they can?t start wrecking boards through anything other than spam and trolling without the ?One Post Per Minute? errors.
