The title tells all. Ive seen an ST ship shield appearing as torpedoes or lasers or the like begin hitting it, but Star Destroyers, it seems that asteroids bounce off immediately from their surface. If they have energy shields, is it wrapped around the ship's body tightly? The ST ships have circular shields surrounding them.

Yes, capital ships do have energy shields...It's mentioned a few times in the films.

Qui-Gon tells Amidala in TPM that the starfighters lasers may not be powerful enough to penetrate the shields of the orbiting Federation Control Ship.

In ROTJ, when those two A-Wings (Originally supposed to be B-Wings!) strafe the Executor, a Lieutenant tells Piett that they have lost their Bridge Deflector Shield.

As for the shape of the shield, I don't know. If you look at the shield around Anakin's fighter in TPM, it appears to be the same shape as the ship.
