    I had never seen so many different looking people in one place before

    I knew this place would be good to me
    This new place being so different was so exciting.
    It really seemed as though all these new people had so much to offer

    As to the style, no, not really. I did enjoy what's written though. The boy had so much hope in his future at that point.... sad. :(
