Now that the vote for creating a website has closed, we can discuss the domain name were going to use. The obvious two candidates are:

    www.jkoc.com

    www.JediKnightsOfCleveland.com

Does anyone else have any ideas they would like to throw out? I?ll create a poll in a few days with the favorites.

I say www.jkoc.com just because it's easy to remember. However, I would also like to say that Columbus is also theoretically JKOC (although I came up with our moniker in March months before they ever used it). Perhaps we could use www.jkofctown.com and they could use www.jkofcbus.com or something? Although I say we totally have all rights to use www.jkoc.com because I started using it before C-bus ever did...

I did some research in the Jedi archives...

I started posting about JKOC on April 14, 2002. Thread evidence:

    http://boards.theforce.net/message.asp?topic=6336088&replies=10

Columbus started using JKOC (if I didn't miss any posts where it was used sooner, and I don't believe I have) until after I did, when they used it in a post on August 22, 2002. Thread evidence:

    http://boards.theforce.net/message.asp?topic=8471343&replies=6

Not that I want to start an Ohio Jedi civil war, but I just thought that I would mention that we are clearly entitled to use www.jkoc.com by a 4 month discrepancy...

Whoever buys it is entitled to it.
    I like www.jkoc.com.

    But it could also be...
    www.tjkoc.com
for The Jedi Knights of Cleveland

    But I prefer the first.

Good point Random. Does anyone know if Columbus is planning on building a website? What if we did something like www.JediKnightsOfOhio.com and then had links to both websites. Then we could split the cost of the domain name between the both groups. Just a thought.

That brings another idea to mind. Is there such a thing as a fan force web ring? If not maybe we should start one. Or at least have links to the other fan force websites and ask them to include us in theirs.

I'm sorry, I just can't look at JKOC without thinking like a friggin twelve year old. Thank my g/f for that lovely thought. If you don't get it, PM me.

That said there has to be something short and sweet besides JKOC. I currently have no clues yet but I'm thinking and trolling through register.com.

How about something like www.jedicleveland.com or www.clevelandjedi.com? Something that basically says what we are instead of an abbreviation.

OK, researching done for now. Here are some available results for everyone to mull over and hopefully spawn some other viable options. I hope they do spawn because in my opinion, some of these just suck. Everything in this post is avaiable with either .com, .net or .org. We would just append whichever after the end (.com would be best IMHO.)

    I double checked these:
    www.jkoc
    www.jediknightsofcleveland
    www.jkofctown

And onto the new list (be prepared for some really crappy ones):
    www.jkofc
    www.jkofcleveland
    www.jkcleveland
    www.tjkc (only .net and .org)
    www.tjkoc
    www.jediknightsctown
    www.jediknightscleveland
    www.jedicleveland
    www.clevelandjedi
    www.clevelandjediknights

That's all I have for now. Rest I must Mull 'em over, shout out some others.

i agree that it should either be www.jkoc.com or www.clevelandjedi.com...

And what Brian is referring to is how JKOC could be interpreted as a "saber symbol."

Zod... think of the shape of a lightsaber. (I was trying to post without being derogatory) Now get your mind in the gutter like you are 16, and forget the J in JKOC, phonetically pronouncing the acronym. You should see what I mean.

    I like

    clevelandjedi
    clevelandjediknights

I guess I'm indifferent of what we pick pretty much.

    "...phonetically pronouncing the acronym."

    [face_laugh] [face_laugh] [face_laugh] [face_laugh] [face_laugh]

That is bloody hysterical. Anyways, Zod PM'd me, it's handled if he can't read through the innuendo.

I really can't figure out which I like, I might abstain. But I'll probably find something as we go.

Ah... I get it now. I guess I'm well beyond thinking like a 16 year old. Although now that it has been pointed out, I'm never going to be able to look at it any other way.

Well, we have had a working website for about 3 months now. But I don't think it will encroach on anything you might use. It is www.jediknightsofcolumbus.tk

    Hey Zod,

Can you try and figure out a nifty slick little way for us to narrow this down to two, three, four however many domains? I'm getting confused and it's bloody late.

Due to reasons I do not want to reveal online, we are going to handle this poll a little differently. I'm still trying to work out the details. Look for the poll sometime around the beginning of the week.

As Darth-Zod said, we (the council) are concerned about voting on a domain name...only to have someone snatch it up from under us. Darth-Zod is coming up with a way to vot on this without compromising our "security."

What is with all the ALF icons? I think it's funny, but Oh..my..gosh!
