ST Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux) in Episode VII

Since were making cast threads. I firgured I would start one on the former Bill Weasely (Harry Potter movies) Any thoughts on who he will play?

 

i'll start off with Ben Skywalker

 

Looks pretty Skywalker-ish to me.

Just hope they come up with something better than Ben.

 

i think it would make sense for luke to name his kid after ben.

 

Or maybe Owen? Owen Skywalker?

Ben is still better. I'm really curious as to who Gleeson plays, more so than even some of the other cast! I really like him as an actor.

 

I remeber him from the last two Potter movies. He seems to be a very good actor.

 

I simply dislike that name very much, in the Star Wars context.
Also, it may make sense in "real life" but here it would kind of feel like needless repetition.

 

He appears to have won the role that Jesse Plemons was up for, yes? Both in the same age range and both red heads. At one point Hollywood Reporter was claiming Boyega and Plemons up for the same role, pinning them along with 3 other actors up for the lead role. Then a lot of speculation around here became that the article was correct that they were both up for big roles, but just two different roles, one that was being made for a mixed race or black male and the other presumably for a blonde/red haired male presumably the son of Luke. I think shortly after the article was published, THR even corrected the wording in another article and said Plemons and Boyega were both up for big "roles" plural. If the assumption that Gleeson ended up with the role Plemons was up for based on hair color, then the conclusion could be made that he is indeed one of the new trio along with Boyega as the original article from THR indicated Plemons and Boyega were both up for the lead role and was later correct to read as "roles" in another article. Just some more food for thought of evidence that Gleeson is indeed one of the new trio.

I too am hoping for Ben Skywalker, but I don't know. May not be a Skywalker, or a Jedi, someone else entirely.

 

You know the guy never going to have to worry about people forgetting who he is now. Since he is now part of the two biggest franchise out there. Plus if his movie career doesn't work out. He will now have two type of fan conventions he can get paid at.

 

About time we had a red haired bloke as a hero in a big production (says me, a red head )

I'd say Luke's son. Note the red hair. Mara Jade may not even be mentioned in these movies (especially if Luke is a widower), but the fact that his son is a redhead is a nice subtle nod to the EU without actually abiding by it.

Yes, but he usually has red or reddish hair in his films.

 

He was pretty entertaining in Dredd as well

 

What about a relative of Ben Kenobi? Didn't both Sir Alec and Ewan have reddish hair?

I'm just saying it could go either way.

 

I think he will be a villain working under Driver's character. He will die at the end of VII, leaving Driver to remain the main baddie for the rest of the ST.

 

He looks more Kenobi-ish to me.

 

I will be really annoyed if Obi-wan Kenobi has a direct descendant and Luke Skywalker doesn't. I know that any child of Han and Leia would also be a Skywalker, a descendant of Anakin, but I want Luke to have a descendant that we can follow into the future too.

 

And he will get free admission to both Universal and Disney in Orlando... he is now a god among insects!

 

If he turns out to be Luke's son with red hair, I don't understand why Mara Jade isn't canon?

 

Luke married another red head then.
