Summary: Anakin is dead, but his spirit continues to follow Tahiri.
Notes: This is my first song fic and the plot bunny just bit my nose when I was listening to my soundtrack of Troy (I hate the movie, but love the music). This is un-betaed and due to suck.

The song is called Remember, from the Troy soundtrack, preformed by Josh Groban.

She runs. The black oblivion of death has incased her. She knows nothing except death.

She is being followed.

Remember, I will still be here.

She stops, panting. She brushes her hair out of her face, her eyes adjusting to the darkness. She half-turns, glancing behind her. Something stirs in the black void, pushing it back.

As long as you hold me, in your memory.

She blinks, memories flooding her as the light drifts towards her. All she can see is Anakin? Anakin.

Why did he have to die? Why did he even create the idea of this stupid mission? Why?

Why?!

Was there anyone who could answer that question?

Remember, when your dreams have ended,
Time can be transcended,
Just remember me.

She sinks to her knees, allowing the distant light specter to approach her quivering form. All she wants is to go back? to return in time, to save him from the clutches of death itself.

I am the one star that keeps burning so brightly,
It is the last light to fade into the rising sun.
The ghostly light shines, wandering ever closer.

Was her life so utterly destroyed because he was gone and he wasn?t going to come back?

I'm with you,
Whenever you tell,
My story,
For I am all I've done.

No, there were too many things that his death had placed on her. She would have to relay the tale of his death many times, to herself, to others? to all the others who wanted to know what had become of their greatest hero?

In that way, he would live on. In her? through her.

Remember, I will still be here,
As long as you hold me, in your memory,
Remember me.

The light shines directly in her face. She glances up, a breeze stirring her hair.

Her lips mouth his name as she looks into his face. She recoils in shock.

He lifts a hand out to her, his voice echoing in her mind, calling her name over and over again.

Tahiri?

She tries to respond, but her mind is fogged with the sound of his voice calling her name, and her tongue refuses to form the syllables of his name.

I am that one voice, in the cold wind,
That whispers,
And if you listen, you'll hear me call across the sky.

She gasps quietly, and sits down, gazing up at the specter, listening to her own name resounding in her head.

As long as,
I still can reach out, and touch you,
Then I will never die.

The specter attempts to grasp her hand, but his form passes right through her flesh.

He calls her name aloud, ?Tahiri.?

His voice wavers and echoes.

She smiles slightly, her eyes wet with tears, and shakily says his name.

?Anakin.?

Remember, I'll never leave you,
If you will only,
Remember me.

?Don?t forget,? he murmurs.

?I ? I won?t.?

He grins, that familiar, typically Solo grin.

Remember me...

?Aren?t you going to ask what you shouldn?t forget??

She covers her face with her hands, sobbing.

?Tahiri?? He tries his best to sound comforting.

Remember, I will still be here,
As long as you hold me,
In your memory.

?You?? she struggles with the words. ?You?re dead.?

He sighs. ?Yeah, I am. But I not dead for you? not yet, anyways.?

?What??

Remember,
When your dreams have ended,

I live forever,
Remember me.

?I live on in your memory, Tahiri,? he says quietly, his form beginning to fade.

?Anakin!? she cries, reaching out for him, her hands

 

Aww, that was really sad but comforting. I'm glad Tahiri got to speak with Anakin one last time a litttle and hopefully get some closure. Nice use of the song, and I enjoyed the descriptions of Tahiri's despair.

I have always felt that Anakin & Tahiri (and all us A/T fans) were cheated out of a real good-bye. One more reason for our sadness at Anakin's untimely demise.

I wasn't happy about Anakin dying at all. Same here. Were any of us (except a select few)? I stopped reading for three days after they killed him.

 

Upping for others to enjoy... for the last time.
