Given the present circumstances, many are contemplating the things they miss most, or the things most wish to retain.

I, however, see a unique opportunity to be both an extreme optimist and pessimist at the same time. That is, we all know that there were weak moments in the EU. Too many, in fact. What was so bad that you are glad to have it gone? What won't you miss?

Share some of the items/events that you are happiest to see erased forever.

Most of the storyline from the NJO onwards but I will miss many of the authors.

Seconded. I only wish I could have the chance to literally see her go poof.

    Jacen Solo going Sith.

    The Emperor being resurrected.

You know, I've never ever understood this one. She routinely places fourth on popularity in Star Wars fandom behind Luke, Han and Leia. So that's ahead of Chewie, Lando, the droids, the kids, etc. She's obviously really, really popular -- why do people dislike this or think it's good if she goes away?

Because we don't like her and aren't changing our opinions just because other people do like her?

But your position is essentially that of the Purists.

"I don't like it therefore it must go away" rather than "I don't like it, but I do like this which is just as good!"

Why people don't like things that obviously work for enhancing the brand and only helps the EU (or <insert something else here>) and want them to go away never made sense to me.

EDIT: The idea that something "enhance's" the brand is opinion is it not? Just as everything that's going to be in here is opinion.

Huh? There's another thread in which I listed what I liked about the EU.

Demanding an "all or nothing" viewpoint could make a person into a purist who never intended to be one.

And no, I'm not going to latch onto something just because it "helps the brand". Either I like it or I don't.

Thanks for the support AFS and Jenari. :) For myself I *never* understood the popularity of such a character as Mara, particularly as Luke's wife. Ugh. Popular doesn't always equal good nor does minority view always equal wrong.

Natural inconsistencies between the post-RotJ EU (actually, probably all pre-'99 EU) and the PT.

All of the Rebel Jedi, which were sort of offensive.

I don't necessarily hate Mara, but I would rather her never show up again than be changed completely.

Post NJO on. NJO going away doesn't make e sad, but it was far better than the Denningverse that followed.
