    Oh, don't do that to the poor kid. The first one is so good, and it's all downhill from there... If you're going to do this, like and tell him that Restaurant is the last one. It's for his own good.

    Although if you really want to do him favors, introduce him to the radio series. It's so good, and holds up much better across its run than the books (though I still haven't heard Mostly Harmless).

    On that subject, any other fans of the radio series here?

    -Paul

    IMO, the first is fabbulous and the second is good until about halfway through. Once they get split up and Ford and Arthur get sent to prehistoric earth, it isn't really good anymore. But before that the series is good enough to be one of my favorites :)

    I haven't read these books in a while, but the series was pretty good from what I remember. :)

    I never actually got around to reading the fifth book. I have them all in a complilation, but I keep thinking that I'll reread them, so I get though part/most/all of the first one, put the book down since I tend to read multiple things at once, and forget abuot it 8-}

    I've been thinking for some time if I should get the "Complete Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy" book, but I haven't gotten around to actually purchasing it.

    As I recall, the fifth book is quite different from the others... but still excellent, hilarious, and worth reading.

    It's a little on the expensive side, but if you like the books, then $20-30 is a good deal.

    I think that it was cheaper than buying all of the books seperately, so that's why I started thinking about it.

    Right. Have you read it? If you haven't and enjoy rereading (or don't enjoy it and would only read them once) the library wuold be best, but if you find you like them, then buying them together is $10-20 cheaper, I believe.

    Mostly Harmless, the fifth book, IS quite different, but it's a good read. I love reading about Arthur Dent the Sandwich Maker (not that big of a spoiler, I hope). The other books are wonderful, but my favorite is still the original book. Something about it is just os delightfully silly that I can't help but read it over and over again.:p

    Are Ford, Zaphod and Trillion in the last book? That was one of the things that made me like the series less as it went on, those characters slowly disappeared.

    Suffice to say it has Arthur and Trillian's daughter in it. Pretty neat.

    Ford and Trillian are in it, but I don't remember if Zaphod is or not. I don't believe so.

    Arthur and Trillion?? How'd that happen? I thought she went back to Zaphod and he ended up with that little British girl.
