Don't you think PadmÃ© should have told on Anakin?

Look - people really need to try and understand what an attachment is, at least by Lucas' Star Wars definition.

An attachment is when you are in a situation where you desire something from your attachment. It iis when you are in a situation where this attachment effects you. Its not about caring for others or being unconditional. You fear losing the attachments.

No Jedi can be attached, else that means they are being greedy and are full of fear. That is the way of the Sith.

Luke was ot attached to Vader when he saved him/brought him back to the light - he was compassionate and loved him. Had he been attached he would have acted from a greedy point of view, caring about how the situation will effect him. The fact that he is willing to sacrifice his own life shows that he was not attached.

Jedi are supposed to love an feel compassion for everyone. But they cant form attachments. Thats the state Luke was in when he brought Vader back. He loved him. He wasnt attached.

"The scene in the garage here, we begin to see that what he's really upset about is the fact that he's not powerful enough. That if he had more power, he could've kept his mother. He could've saved her and she could've been in his life. That relationship could've stayed there if he'd have been just powerful enough. He's greedy in that he wants to keep his mother around, he's greedy in that he wants to become more powerful in order to control things in order to keep the things around that he wants. There's a lot of connections here with the beginning of him sliding into the Dark Side. And Dooku is kind of the fallen Jedi who was converted to the Dark Side because the other Sith Lord didn't have time to start from scratch, and so we can see that that's where this is going to lead which is that it is possible for a Jedi to be converted. It is possible for a Jedi to want to become more powerful, and control things. Because of that, and because he was unwilling to let go of his mother, because he was so attached to her, he committed this terrible revenge on the Tusken Raiders."

No being can live without attachment. We are attached to the desire to nourish ourselves. It is an instinct. If a Jedi had no attachment, they would sit under a tree until they starved.

Jedi are attached to the principles they believe. These being truth, justice... I don't know... Whatever it is, defending the galaxy, bla bla bla.

And finally (for me, anyway. I don't have all day to list jedi attachments), jedi are attached to the ones they care about. Even the great, wise, venerable master Yoda frequently puts his hand over his heart in pain over his personal attachments (during order 66, when anakin slaughters the sand-people, when padme dies).

So of course every jedi has attachments. It is not forbidden..

Some attachments are promoted in the Jedi, and viewed as wholesome. These are the master-padawan relationships, inter-jedi relationships, compassion, love for the republic, cleanliness, etc.

Other attachments are viewed as unwholesome. These being pride, romantic relationships, etc.

In my romantic endeavors, I have often turned to the "darkside." In my friendships, and with my mentors, I have seldom turned to the "darkside."

So maybe the Jedi knew what they were talking about.

That's just my experience. Now what this has to do with the topic of the thread, I don't know.
