    I want this novel.

And if Luceno doesn't want to write it, call JJM.

How about a Dooku novel that finally clears up the Sifo Dyas mystery I mean I got so many questions after "the lost one"

I've been impressed by Luceno's previous character study novels. His continuity porn works better when fleshing out Tarkin or the Falcon versus momentum crushing digressions such as devoting a page or two to the history of Sienar Fleet Systems whenever Anakin or Obi-Wan made a fleeting reference to Raith. Maybe the new editorial regime at Del Rey and the Story Group means the editors are actually editing for once instead of shipping novels down the production line. Anyways, I agree that we need a Dooku novel, hopefully showing the formation of the Separatist Crisis. If Luceno keeps rolling then hand him the ball.

A Tarkin!Luceno Dooku novel would feature a newly-mastered Dooku reminiscing on what his time in the lacrosse squad in Serenno taught him. From time to time he'd start mentioning some fantastic adventure he had alongside his padawan Qui-Gon Jinn, but then he'd get sidetracked and think of more lacrosse anecdotes. Then someone would steal his speeder, the Lacrosse Finals, and he'd have to team up with Senator Palpatine to try to recover it. He'd spend the whole novel traveling around Coruscant looking for his speeder, thinking on how awesome Palpatine is and wondering if he ever played lacrosse. Palpatine and the speeder thieves would start slowly taking over the novel, only cutting back to Dooku for some more lacrosse stories: how the lacrosse finals turned him into the man he is, how awesome lacrosse is, how a lightsaber is basically a light-lacrosse-stick, how everything reminds him of lacrosse, how the head injuries he suffered playing lacrosse are probably not than important... Then he would catch the thieves and find out everything was masterminded by (surprise) the only new character introduced in the book. Then he'd return to the place where he once played lacrosse and reminisce some more, and then his new best buddy Palpatine would name him Darh Tyranus.

Well, I'm now imagining young!Dooku as Sterling Archer.

    Thanks for that.

Well, imagine if you were surrounded by pneumoniac cyborg generals, whiny Neimoidians, buzzing Geonosian bug-men and Aqualish ass-faces all day long. You'd probably be a little bit racist, too.

Really, the good Count had the patience of a saint.

I'm trying to imagine the scene in which we readers discover that the good Count and Senator were on a first-name basis.

    "Thank you, Sheev."

    "You are welcome, Severelius."

My personal favorites are probably these guys, an entire species who are slowly evolving into giant penises.

(I didn't notice the back of the Cthulhu-man's head until now. You've got a sharper eye than I.)

Lol. I read somewhere that Dooku's full name is just "Dooku of Serenno", and that his family are old royalty who are just named after the place they're from.

But then again, anything might happen in the Disneyverse. I'm waiting for the "Thank you, Sheev. You're welcome, Jimmy" any time.

If there is a Dooku novel I would like to see Count Dooku interact with Count Vemec from the now Legends Darth Plagueis novel. I always wanted to learn more about Count Vemec.

I would enjoy a book like this, and Lucero is a sensible choice for it. I would like to see Doom leave the Jedi order and his involvement in creating the Separatist state, in addition to clarity on the mystery of Sifo-Dyas and the clone army. Also, I'll take the obligatory fall to the Dark Side and beginnings of apprenticeship to Sheev.

I know I might pick up some flack for this, but I didn't love the Plagueis novel. I really didn't like some of the timeline and perception shifting that it forced, and I'm glad that those bits are not part of the new canon at the moment. I like Luceno, and think he would be great to do a Dooku character study, but I think he can try too hard with his thesaurus sometimes and lose the plot for the details or English language. But these are minor complaints, he's a worthy contributor to this world.

It would be helpful if someone depicts exactly how Dooku and the Pykes disposed of Sifo-Dyas. We need to see that on screen, so to speak. Gosh, that sounds morbid to say we need to see someone die. But you know what mean...

That right there is the problem with "fantastic racism". It's usually "justified" IU because the species just are like that (by author fiat). Which tends to make many fantasy/SF stories inherently racist, in that they (very often) continue 19th-century racist tropes that nobody would dare write about human "races" anymore by applying them to fantastic creatures which, hey, are just that way biologically.

I do find that quite odd, because - without wishing to beat up on the book, the author, or anyone who liked it - I found it boring and poorly written. Takes all sorts, eh?
