Dork-Vader's fan art- sketchy details

Hey gang- I'm Lin Workman. I'm a graphic artist in Memphis, TN and self-publish comics from time to time.

I also tend to sketch a lot when I have free time or am at a convention or have a layover on the way to one.

I'm going to post some of my work, and may throw in some by my friends in the MSCA/MidSouth Cartoonists Association or some cool Star wars sketches I've picked up.

First up are some sketches I did for my friend Shorty/Dominic.

He's a big Star wars and Indiana Jones (and Short-Round) fan and loves art. His faves are Chewie, Han, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Stinky, Ahsoka, Indy, pretty much just the good guys- and girls.

I did some Indy sketches for him and gave them to him in San Diego.

For my fangirl girlfriend Nicki, this Christmas I started her a sketchbook to take to conventions this year. I gave it to her on Christmas Eve, which was also Fangirl Wednesday when her Star Wars comics arrived at the local comic shop.

I love my sketchbook. I still can't believe that you drew half of those sketches with me sitting next to you on the couch, and I never realized that they were for me.

Yeah, I was set up next to Danielle and her cactus and Norton- right across from David Petersen. Had fun doing the SW sketches for Radio Wayne- the guy's a nut. He and Harold were cracking me up all weekend. Glad you and your 501st buds were able to make it out. Yeah, love that shot of Obi-Wan. The sketch I did in Shorty's sketchbook was the second drawing I've done using that photo as reference. The first one I did was a lot bigger and had more of his cloak and robes showing. It was a bit more rendered, too- using blending stumps and different leads. Didn't get a good scan or shot of it before I gave it away. I started on it for a friend just before I went to another friend's party and finished it there for them. Gone to Seattle now.

The Obi-Wan pic would be a good one for you to airbrush. After my Vader portrait, of course.

I know you're planning on airbrushing the Villains/Monster series next in your non-existent free time, but you might want to consider airbrushing a Heroes series after that. We know someone who'd find room in her house for a Luke portrait.
