Ok, I am a convention Newbie as well, so I had a few (possibly stupid, let's hope not) questions:

Are we actually allowed to bring our own food? (I know some of you mentioned something about it, but I am just making sure I don't have to carry a bunch of extra stuff if I can't even use it)

Will parking be a major issue? Or Would walking(from the hotel) be a much better choice?

How much estimated time would you be standing in line for one autograph?(say for instance for Carrie Fisher) and will they have pictures for you to sign, or will you have to supply your own?

That is the only thing that comes to mind right now, But I will probably have more later!
Thanks guys, you have already been a big help already. :)

Yep I knew I would forget something!

What celebrities are the ones that are going to be the most worth standing in line for? I know carrie fisher and hayden would be ones to go for, since they probably won't do many conventions, but anyone else?

I haven't heard anything about not bringing in your own food. I've been to a few things at ICC and it doesn't seem like a problem. Just make sure it's comfortable to carry.

Well, depending on what hotel you're staying it determines whether you walk or park. If you are staying in any of the downtown hotels, as long as their parking prices are responsible (some charge, some don't), I'd say walk. There are lots of parking garages in and around ICC, so parking itself won't be a problem, it might just be cumbersome. Parking in Indy, though, isn't near as expensive as other places. Heck, I live about 3 miles away and I plan on riding my bike if I have to.

Standing in lines is something yo can't estimate. I think Carrie is going to sign autographs, but Hayden isn't. Since there is no set standard since they didn't have autograph signings at the last Celebration, it's hard to say. It's also hard to say who is worth getting their autograph. Some of the people I want their autograph won't be signing. But some of the people you might want might be. I'd check the list and plan it out.

    Hope that helps.

Ok, thanks for the info :)

Oh yeah, is there a link to where I can find out which celebrities are signing and which ones aren't?

    Sure, here ya go

All people marked with an (A) have been confirmed to be signing autographs. And remember, things can always change.

Geekus Maximus would be the sort that insists the Mara Jade impersonator must be faithful to the Luke impersonator, and she must not fraternize with those dressed as Old Republic characters for the sake of chronological correctness.

They actors will have photos, some more than one. I figure the Carrie Fisher line will be in the neighborhood of two hours, if not more.

I think a Mara could fraternize with prequel people, just say that she's conferring with spirits from the past, like Luke did with Obi-Wan (even though the Zahn trilogy doesn't imply that such a thing is possible). :D

A great tip for waiting in lines:

Talk to the people around you, you'd be amazed how many people just stand stone faced in line for an hour and never utter a word. Plus, this is a great way to work off your anxiety at meeting, say Princess Leia, so when you do finally get up to the table, you don't blurt out a 2,000 word jumble in 5 seconds & scare the poor woman half to death.

I know I got a lot of practice doing this at the last Celebration (at least this time it won't be in the rain).

I read the warnings about the film, my question is about my lightsaber. It's metal, very realistic and I know I can't put in carry-on, the x-ray machine would scream, "PIPE BOMB!"

My question is, do they x-ray checked-in luggage? Am I gonna get to CII and not have my saber? (Or clothes and all the other stuff?)

    Panjin,

I STRONGLY recommend you notify the airline you are flying of your contents of your checked luggage----mark it CLEARLY "MOVIE PROP" and you should have no problem. Good luck!!!

Don't worry about taking your lightsaber. I fly all the time and I never go anywhere without my lightsaber. Just pack it in your checked luggage and you'll be fine. I've never had a problem. I wouldn't try carrying it on, though.

i was a trekkie until they came out with enterprise. it's worse than the next generation and deep space nine put together. so, the last ST episode i watched was out in california. haven't watched it since. so, now, i'm a full time SW, Harry Potter (there's nothing wrong with being a Harry Potter fan), and a Lord Of The Rings fan. for any one's info, i'm in the last book of the trilogy. Return of the king. read the hobbit so you won't be dazed and confused in the fellowship of the ring.

do: bring something to do in the line for the bath room

don't: go running around shouting "Star Trek ****"

do: bring a cramera and a truck load of film

don't: run up to your favorite actor/actress and hug and kiss them

Was that Do or Don't run around yelling Star Trek Sucks???
I heard there was like a rivalry between SW fans & ST fans. What actually is the protocol for unruly Trekkies ?(Trekkers or whatever)

Do not come dressed as a Klingon

The last people who tried that had to be escorted to their car by the Air National Guard Reserve troops at the Denver Celebration.

Do read the schedules released on the official site or Sebulba-X's FAQ.

Do make a loose plan with back up selections in case you aren't able to attend your first choice.

Do emphasize the positives and not the negatives. After all you want to have a great trip and get your money's worth. There are bound to be frustrations with any event this large so make the best of it.

Do enjoy yourself, make new friends, and have a great experience.

And please...do have a safe trip.

I hope to meet many of you in Indianapolis.

    Carolyn

I read on an earlier post that you shouldn't expent to do everything. Is that for people going for one day or all 3. I am getting down early Friday and hope to get 10 autographs over the whole weekend. Does that sound crazy?

I've heard that Carrie Fisher is usually less than enthusiastic about signing autographs at these things. I know that the pictures of her at one of the Disney Star Wars Weekends seems to reflect that. Has anyone met her before?

I promise I wont embarrass all my fellow star wars fans by running around chasing Billy Dee williams screaming - Lando! Lando! Hurry We need to save Han!!!

 I think I found my Force sister in strawbary!!! :D

I love Lando *so* much (just ask my fellow MN fanforcers ;)). [face_love] I'm exactly the same way with Harrison Ford [face_love], but he'll never be at a convention. :_|

At least we can count on the king of smooth! [face_love]
