Okay, I am the really the only who thinks that that was way too early for Mr. Perfect?

Don't get me wrong, the dude was really good, and I surely wanted him on my team as well... but, like, later.

The guy was never a world champion in a major organization, and while titles can't be the only measure of success, should they not count for something? And world title thing aside, apart from a really short span when he first entered the WWF, Perfect was never really even a main event-esque competitor.

We are indeed roughly on the same page.

Thanks for the breakdowns, D1 ... much appreciated.

And, yeah, I don't get all the Mr. Perfect love. A lot of guys still on the board are better than him. A lot.

He was the World Heavyweight champ in the AWA (for over a year) which at the time rivaled the WWF and WCW. Upon entering the WWF went undefeated for a year, won the Intercontinental Title and suppsedly held the title off and on more than anyone else in the 90's.

He has beaten Flair, Big Show, Nash, DDP, Luger, Benoit, Nick Bockwinkel (yeah!), Tito Santana, etc. In the late 80's and up through the mid 90's he was a draw.

This could be my Minnesota blood talking, but I think he is just fine as a 3rd round pick.

What does your Minnesota blood say about Tarvaris Jackson?

Not much, but it likes Adrian Peterson. :p

Yeah, I was going to mention that I specifically said major organization in regards to a world title, but then I looked it up to be certain, and I'll be dipped, the AWA title did hold world title status, so I stand corrected on that one.

But... look at it this way: Rick Martel was also the AWA champion. So was Larry Zbyszko. Are these guys worthy of being picked in the 3rd round?

But he has some isolated vitories over some big names like Flair and Hogan? A lot of people do. Doesn't necessarily make them top-tier guys. Hell, Jacques Rougeau (the guy who used to be the freakin' Mountie!) has a clean pinfall win over Hogan. Is he now a 3rd round pick? Is he even on the list?

For the most part you do have a point about the level of wrestlers that held the AWA title, but then again I do believe that Hennig is better than the standard AWA group.

But as to isolated wins against Flair and Hogan, if that was the only top level people he beat sure, but over his career he was consistantly defeating various top tier contenders.

Flair he beat only once to my knowledge. Did he ever defeat Hogan though? That was during Hogan's undefeatable years.

I don't know, this is just my first impression of picks. Things could change once we get into matches, as they usually do, and with this being the first draft it is hard to guage how valuable some of these guys will actually be.

Dunno why I said Hogan there. Yeah, I don't think Perfect ever beat Hogan. I think I meant Nash or... someone else.

I like Perfect. He entertained me. But when I saw him in the 3rd round it screamed "mistake."

Well I know who I really want to pick but I will have to wait I guess. I need a "big guy" on my team and women wrestler. So I guess I will go with Yokozuna and the best (imho) womens technical wrestler or at least close to it in Trish Stratus. Which is a surprise considering how bad she once was

Trish was going to be my next pick. [face_frustrated]

    Instead, I choose Jeff Hardy.

    But that would hurt!

I gotta be honest, though... after really looking at them closely, I just don't think I like my team very much. They totally rock the **** individually, but as a team it's just a massive clusterkriff of clashing personalities. I'm trying to look at from the perspective of it being a show. What possible reason could these guys have for coming together? And there just isn't any remotely plausible reason. None.

Like what I have right now is just so far removed from what I originally put together in my head when I first thought about what I would do for a wrestling draft team. Meh.

Time for another seemingly bizarre pick? I think so. But this guy was WWF Champion for five years, and owns a win over Bret Hart.

    Hulk Hogan
    Steve Austin
    "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes
    Mick Foley
    Bob Backlund
