Anu: What a *scintillating* array of costumes! :)

John: Lemme guess...Dex Dearborn from "Sky Captain", goggles, raygun and all? :)

Y'know...there have been small groups going around dressing in concept-based outfits...I don't suppose we could get a group of people together to do something "Sky Captain"-themed during D*C, perhaps even for the masquerade?

    Hey...just a thought...

I could just picture trou...I mean, Sam in the "mysterious woman" outfit(Totenkopf's butt-kicking assassin played by Bai Ling)... :)

In other words, I'm just going to wear an Indian dress. Bet only a few people have ever done that. :D But maybe I should tell people I'm from something a little more recognisable, like, "Bend It Like Beckham." :p

Just to give you an idea... I was walking around at D*Con Sunday night (post-masquerade, i.e. super-crowded) and I bumped into this Indian guy. He gives me this shocked look and says "OMG it's another Indian guy!" I did not see any other Indian people the whole time I was there.

But with that said, exotic-looking dresses are not uncommon. You'll definitely be different, but you won't be out-of-place.

    Abhay,

I sometimes think about how...monochromatic...fandom seems to be. It's brings me to why I like MEPA and the other surrounding fan groups, because we tend to be a bit more diverse in our ethnic make up which I find tends to make things more interesting.

FWIW, D*Con is not that "monochromatic" in that there are people of other races present. They seem underrepresented (to my eye), but they are there.

Anyhow, this whole issue doesn't affect my enjoyment of fandom in general. I still manage to have a great time at D*Con and in our local activities. :)

    Indeed, Abhay...

Are you STILL feeling the post-Dragon*Con blues? I know I am...

In fact, I don't expect it to abate until, perhaps, Celebration III. :)

Chiller is like the nicorette of conventions. It wont be as satisfying as DC but will have to do. lol

That is where I will be...

I was in serious D*C withdrawal when I came back home. I'm still in withdrawal and I'll settle for Chiller, I suppose.

Although, I keep counting the days till April :)
