If I can do it, anyone can. I failed cutting in kindergarden. I didn't do so well in home ec in 8th grade. But I managed to make a Jedi outfit that's ok. I highly recommend using parts from your own wardrobe - it saves time and frustration. I also recommend those cheapo clothing stores you see around (I'm thinking of way down Rt. 1 in Alexandria) - I've found parts there too for only a few bucks.

My wife is talking about going to DragonCon!! Of course, she is talking about going next year. That would mean DragonCon next year and Celebration III the following year. Also, I hopefully won't be living in the D.C area next year. So, I will have to meet up with everyone down there to say hi.

I bought a pattern to make my pants. That's about it... I'm still trying to think of a SW related costume that wouldn't be too hard to make but I'm drawing a blank. Not that I really have time to make one, but still...

Ticketmaster is better than waiting in a really long line to possibly find out that they are sold out.

Trust me, get it now!!! Listen to your Event Coordinator who has seen the line for getting the tickets. Now, it might not be so bad if you arrive on Thursday, but from my experience, the pre-reg line is bad enough.....

    I need to start sewing.

Ken still wants to do TK-409, but we need to get hold of a stormtrooper helmet. Small detail. with moving, it might not come together for DragonCon, but who knows.... with luck....

Does anyone know if the Halloween store is open at Springfield mall yet?

Excellent place for supplies. That's where we got the Vader mask. If anyone hits a costume store and sees the prosthetic vampire foreheads from Buffy, please let me know. But I may try to go this weekend. I'll post a review of any cool costume supplies I find.

Dude, Valerie. You need to figure out what you are doing for your other costumes. I know I have to do a Tribe costume (<3 Ram) and Hannah. As well as a pirate (duh. XD) ---

That's three right there. And if I was a guy, you KNOW I would be Carth. <3

They have two Caine icons, BTW. Did you see them? (Ganner ownz.)

Ooh! Caine icons?? *runs off to check*

And they added Carth, I see...

Yeah, I'll try to figure out what else to dress up as... Don't know if I'll come up with anything but we'll see.

Carth is from the SW: Knights of the Old Republic video game... Caine is a character from Matthew Stover novels. They are both pretty groovy.

    Heather, you are on crack.

So... if I were to make a sith-y kind of costume, would it be lame if I bought the clock and made the rest myself? I'm scared to make the cloak and I don't think I have time anyway.

The cloak is actually pretty easy to make (my advice is to lengthen the sleeves, and make the hood less pointy if you have the same pattern I do), but I don't think it's lame to buy any part of the costume. I only made my tunic and cloak - the rest is store bought!! I think it's only important if you are entering the contest.
