O yeah. That's fine, we lit majors tend to start conspiring and giggling in snarky voices...you don't wanna go there. Being an American writer is definitely no shame, it's just that we are so cliched its not even funny (the whole 'great American novel' thing.). I, for one, don't appreciate it. I also am a big anglophile, so American literature doesn't really appeal to me anyway.
