And now I'm working on another viggie! Jeez, these plot bunnies just keep attacking me when I'm trying to work on the next part. I'm trying not to complain too much though, because I like both the bunnies. *pets them*

Now if only I could find the bunny that was hopping around for the next part. *sorts through all the papers strewn on her desk* I know it's here somewhere!

Well, I'm working on the next chapter right now. I'm forcing myself to get it almost completely done, if not completely.

This one's dedicated to NYC for getting it back to me so quickly. Sorry it took so long everybody.

CHAPTER 17

Wedge was watching the battle from the helm of the Rebel Dream. He missed being out in the battle, with all of the decisions made affecting him right then and there. Up here in the Star Destroyer, directing the battle, his decisions didn?t affect him personally; they affected everyone under his leadership; which was a large responsibility that he still wished he hadn?t been forced to accept.

The battle was wearing his mind down. The Republic?s forces should easily be winning and yet, the Yuuzhan Vong seemed to be prevailing. General Antilles sat down in front of the tactical screen to study why his forces were struggling.

Ace Crowe was his name; insignificant to most, just like his appearance. He was a little shorter than many Corellians, but that was his only notable attribute. He also looked much like any other Corellian with his strong build and darker skin.

He was a nervous young man, but by looking at him you?d never know. He walked with his head up and eyes front, greeting everyone that passed with a small, trivial smile. He was a very kind young man; the only problem was that he had been raised on the wrong-side of life.

He was born to a young woman of a rich family and put into a cheap adoption agency the moment he was born. He was then sold to a mercenary and forced to pick pockets and steal for a living. When the Yuuzhan Vong invaded, his masters joined the Peace Brigade and started training him to be inserted into the NR as a spy, and later on, as a killer. He?s gotten used to his life as the enemy and has learned to ignore his conscience. Ignoring his conscience is pretty easy now, after years of practice, and it no longer affected the way he did his job.

He was on his way to his room, where he would contact his masters and let them know of his success ? he had completed the first-half of his mission; Jaina Solo was ready for pick-up. The second-half of his mission was going into affect tonight. His masters will be pleased.

Jaina Solo was floating in and out of consciousness. Her mind was filled with pain. All she knew was pain. She breathed pain, she thought pain, she saw pain. She had never felt so insignificant before. She was feeling people die, and she couldn?t do anything about it. She was feeling every single person die, and all she could do was sit silently. She wasn?t even screaming.

She could hear Kyp calling her name frantically, she could feel her ship being hit with plasma, but there was nothing she could do. She was in shock and nothing could shake her from its haze. Pain consumed her being completely and her body went limp.

Jacen Solo was sitting on the bridge when he felt it. Unrelenting pain was overwhelming him, yet it wasn?t his own. He could feel his twin?s suffering, not his own. He reached out to her, but she didn?t respond. He could feel how the pain was affecting her; it had taken control of her body and held her immobile. She sat silently and let her fighter?s flames consume her. She did nothing to stop it.

This wasn?t right. Jaina wouldn?t let her end be like this. She would see this war to its conclusion and if she went out, she?d go out fighting. She wouldn?t let the Vong beat her without a fight ? a hard fight. Something was wrong. Something was definitely wrong. And Jacen Solo could do nothing but mutely stare as he felt his sister?s presence disappear from his soul.

She was gone. Jaina Solo was gone.

Then it really hit him. An inhuman scream escaped his lungs as he collapsed on the bridge. People stopped what they were doing and watched him. He felt tears falling down his face and he let himself slip from consciousness. He couldn?t stand this any longer.

Leia was seated next to Han in the co-pilot?s seat when she felt it. There was a surge of pain from her children and then all of a sudden it was quieted, a
