"Drugs" on November 28th!

I'm not really going to add much here, I believe that promoting a movie of this type on the boards is essential to its survival and as long as there are sufficient warnings in place (after that it's up the parents to keep tabs on what their kids are doing online) then I see no problem with it, but I did have to comment on something that was said a couple of posts ago.

I found it ironic that someone who is asking for the shutdown of a means of communication for something would likewise be vocal against someone else trying to shutdown the communication of their message. Just struck me as funny.

 

El-director, what email addresses where you sending stuff to? I can' t understand why none of them got through?

A lot of kids (including my eight and five year old brothers) get on and watch fan films and it is not right to have an "R-rated" here for anyone to see

I posted a warning on the end of the news article stating that Although the content is not explicit, it may well be considered PG13 - so if you are likely to be offended please do not download the files. Therefore I wouldn't allow a five year old to watch/download the film becuase of the warning. If they are accessing the internet without parental control then I feel this is an issue the parents need to address, not TFN fanfilms. My two children are not allowed to use the internet on their own, since it is WAY too easy to access content I don't want them seeing, even with parental filters on. I watched the segment first, and then made a judgement call after that, and posted the news article, that's all I can say. Watch the film and then decide whether you still feel the same.

I'm sure we will watch the final film and decide again whether to post a news article on this. If the content is blatently X rated, then I doubt very much it will be newsworthy.

I actually do have fairly prudish attitudes where this type of stuff is concerned, and certainly do not think that 'anything goes' However no matter what your stance is, there are always going to be people who object to content on any site (and we have the emails to prove it )

Whilst I am on the subject, Chad, is there going to be any Star Wars content in this one? I remember you saying after 'Sex' aired that there would be Stormtroopers in the next one - is this still going to be happening?

 

I also find it rather disturbing that a film that deals mainly with sexuality (in a humorous, VERY safe context) is drawing far more heat than a film full of KILLING.

TF.N never seems queasy about posting news about other PG-13 or R-rated films.

There's no reason 'Drugs' shouldn't be treated the same way.

Quite right. The last thing I wanted to do was start a huge argument. I do not feel "Drugs" is appropriate for TFN's news section. I have said that in public and that is all I have to say.

I will not post in this thread again, so Chad can back to the topic of his film.

The whole violence vs sex censorship is a big thing in film.
Example: films with lots of violence are put on prime time viewing. Films with lots of sex are often reserved for late night. It's like someone who watches more sex will become more disturbed and a criminal than someone who watchesd more violent acts.
It's a doube standard I say.

 

It may be a double standard, sure. but as a parent, i reserve the right to decide what my children can and cannot be exposed to.

It's also much easier to explain, for instance, that Indiana Jones is dispatching the bad guys than it is to explain that Bill Clinton is getting a hummer from Monica.

Sure, violence in film should be treated AS sex on film is, but that doesn't mean that because it isn't Sex should have the same license to exposure as violence has enjoyed.

I, for one, appreciate Daft's concern in this respect. With many underage members on this board, taking a prudish attitude is the safe way to go.

 

The only thing I can really add to this is, el_director have you watched the clip yet? Its not very R-Rated in the least and you probably wouldn't be so offended if you saw it. Thats not to say I'm saying you don't have a right to be offended, because you do. I'm saying that Daft viewed it, saw nothing particularily offensive in it and decided to post the link... he viewed it. Your going off of the fact that someone said it would be R-Rated. While I've seen the rouch cut of the flick, and yes it definately is R-Rated (though just out of language), this clip really isn't. So that judgement was made, and it was posted.

Yes, there are both. The Seattle Star Wars Society helped coordinate a few of the Seattle scenes, and even acted in a scene or two. A Stormtrooper is involved, and Jar Jar takes up a fairly key part in the plot (So does Mark Hamill, for that matter). The idea is that it's about Star Wars or Portman fans, who don't necessarily focus entirely on SW or Portman (or maybe, their problem is that they focus TOO much on that).

The film is definitely NOT going to be rated "X" (much to every Shayna Lanzo fan's disappointment.)

A Question to Chad....i know i keep going on about ti but i really want to see this film. is it going to be possible to have the film out before christmas or is the celibration sgoing to keep you from finishing it. if so...then so be it.....it would just be nice to know instead of being kept in the dark.

the thread is getting way out of hand. Those making jokes about porn, that will stop right now. There are underage kids here and you do not have the right to say what you want here.

And we will watch Drugs to see about the content.
