Yes, it appears that the search function has stopped working. I sort of expected this to happen.

Yeah, usually when I do a search for "have" I'd think something would come up.

Programming searches can be a real pain.

Well, the first time it was that and another word, just to see if it picked up a post from yesterday.

The second time, I just wanted to see if anybody was talking about me behind my back.

 

Zerosleep, you're a legend. I'm going to throw in "redundant" and see if it crashes the boards or not.

 

Hasn't worked for me yet.

 

I put in **** and ****, and then tried ********. Then I went and tried ***** and ****. I was particularly surprised by how many times **** was missed by moderators. Of course, the tool is in their hands now too. Now they can check the language of the forums in a snap. Every hour or so they can do a search for ****, ****, *****, ********************, and all the other common curses. There will no longer be any way for foul language to hide from the moderators, and those who try will be ******.

 

Yup. It turns out that most of the uncensored curse words are in the FanFic forum of all places.

I've been looking for them, but it seems that the mods have been busy since the new feature has been added.

 

Greg - they shouldn't be anymore. I cleaned those up. That was one of the first things we did with the search tool: look for swears we missed.

Purely because people would undoubtably do the same thing, the first thing that I tested was not my user-name, but to see how much we actually missed in moderating.

 

I must say I was impressed by how little was missed in YJCC. Good job, folks.

I haven't had any problems with it working, except that all of the searches I have tried don't return the most recent posts. I tried searching for a couple of things I specifically knew of existing, but it didn't return the posts that were made with those words within the last 5 days or so. ?

 

Though I'm not sure how this search is programmed, that lag might be due to indexing of the forums db. Most of the searches that I've programmed work off of an index of the db rather than the actual data (speeds them up immensely), but the indexes are always a little bit behind. I could be completely wrong, though.

yeah, i searched for my name, unfortunalty i didn't get all the results possible since my name is in that "100 most watched users" thread likea million times...

and if it doesn't appear to work, search for it again, that's what i did and it worked.

 

I cant see it?
