I do drink caffeinated carbonated beverages, but Red Bull's flavour I can't stand. It smells like vomit to me. So, their marketing team is amazing if they have this much money to burn. Or I have terrible taste.

No , nothing wrong with your taste, I don't care for it either.

Add me to the non-likers. If I want caffeine I'll go for Mountain Dew or Diet Coke.

Regular Coke or coffee will do just fine for me. I can't recall the last time I ever tasted wretched RB. Hideous stuff.

Anyhoo, what exactly is that guy jumping out of anyway. No chance hell burn up gloriously in reentry?

Out of a record breaking (height) balloon capsule. I don't think he'll have the speed to burn up.

I'm also a regular coke guy, even Pepsi is too sweet for my tastes.

A good graphic of the jump

Now pushed back further, to 11:30 MDT. Don't think it's going to happen today. :(

If it does the actual flight will probably be after my bedtime as 11:30 MDT is 6:30 PM UK time. Add in the 3 hours til he actually flies and I will be relaxing before bedtime by then.

Hm. I should still be around then. Luckily I didn't really have to wake up any earlier this morning.

You're in bed by 9:30? What are you, a farmer?!!!

Next update is in an hour, hopefully the wind will have did down. Must suck to be Baumgartner, having to wait hours on end after preparing for 5 years.

Seems like a pretty lame record if you don't even have to be awake for it.

Naw - it's just that I need to relax and wind down before I go to bed, otherwise I have trouble getting to sleep. I normally read for a couple of hours.

Just saw that on the BBC News site. The winds were to blame.

BBC News article mentions that meteorologists say Thursday might be the next day for a try.

I was watching a bit live right at the crucial moment, you could see the wind twisting the balloon around, there was no way they could lunch. The balloon apparently hit the ground at one point, raising fears that it may have been damaged, meaning they have to throw it away and use the reserve for the next attempt.

Next attempt probably Thursday, if it doesn't go then they may push it back to spring, when the weather is generally more favorable. The jump was originally planned to happen in August, but had to be pushed back to October when the capsule was damaged in the second test jump (landed on some rocks). Seems like they#re biggest problem at this point is logistics -- it takes so long (an hour or more) to inflate the balloon that the weather changed by the time they were ready to go.
