An Australian moving to Denmark? How unusual!
Care to let us in on why? ;)

Maybe you can give the Danish part of FFNordic a shot in the arm... Thus bringing us that much closer to four active Nordic regions! :)

No dragons are just mythical creatures.

Maybe we should try to keep this on topic.

Grieyls, just tell us when you are moving and we can have a big housewarming-party.

Well, I was working on a six month plan, however things seem to have gone by the way side in that process. Needless to say I need to apply for the permits first, otherwise I can only stay there for three months top, then I have to get the permits to work there, and that's another kettle of fish. Well as of yet I don't have a definate date for you at this stage, but I'm hoping it will happen soon, I just can't say when yet.

Well, you are going to be moving to the most wondefuld country of scandinavia(take that sweden). Two nice places to live is Aarhus or Copenhagen, but it's hard to find a nice place to live.

Grieyls, have you visited Denmark before?

I highly recommend that if you have never been there, that you go visit for an extended period of time.

Also have you been there during the winter?

I think the nights are very long there, and the weather can be nasty.

Prices are high in Denmark as they are in Norway and Sweden (although it seems that alcohol is cheapest in Denmark). If I am not mistaken Australia is also quite expensive, so you may not notice as much.

Do you speak any Danish? Although there are many people in Denmark that speak English, it helps if you speak their language, if nothing else, just out of courtesy and respect.

There is an interesting series of books you may want to look into called "Culture Shock!" and they compare different customs, and different legalities to the way they are here in the US. Though it is US-centric it can help you with a thorough to-do list.

One last remark for any Aussie moving to the home of Hamlet, There are absolutely no Orange Kangaroos in Denmark ;)

Yep, I have been there before and it was during the winter, so yeah I know the nights are long. Was fun actually, found it quite interesting that it was dark at four in the afternoon, and sun did not come up till eight or nine in the morning.

Anyway, as for the language have been working on it, but finding it a little hard, I'm hoping that once I am there I will pick it up so much quicker as I will be hearing it all the time.
