Whitcoulls has a "20% off Sale" on all DVD and Video titles on Nov 23rd.

Got a flyer out of my mailbox today and noticed that EPII is pictured.

I got a Whitcoulls voucher for my b'day in July that I was saving up to get AOTC when it came out, but I don't know whether to wait until then, or get it tomorrow so I can watch it after my Data Comm's and Networking exam on Friday.

    Hmmmmmm.

Unsurprisingly the Parallel Imported LOTR Deluxe collections appear to be Zone 1, which could be an issue for some people (like me, for instance).

Yep, I've just seen that Whitcoulls 20% off brochure as well - looks like I might be waiting until 23 November to buy mine, unless K-Mart or the Warehouse are lower. :)

It also says underneath that the 20% off EXCLUDES Lord of the Rings - nyah, nyah!! :p

If anyone's interested, I saw DVDs for the just released Batman Movie at both Whitcoulls and the Warehouse - that's the movie based on the old TV series, not the newer versions. POW! WHAM! WAP! Holy big screen, Batman! :)

As much as I deisre a DVD player, the forseeable future( ie bank account) wont allow for me to get an Xbox with multizone universal DVD remote, so I say this with my trusty 20 or so year old VHS Player

Picked up my AOTC DVD this morning on the way from work. $33.95 at Woolworths Glenfield. Does this mean I am the first? It wasn't even on the shelves and one of the women who worked there had to go out the back and unpack it for me

Interestingly, my LOTR (which is a US parallel import) looks to have better packaging than the NZ release. nothing major ... just that the slipcase etc. seem to be of better quality, stiffer cardboard. Hooray marbecks!

OK, here's a quick run-down on the pricing (so far) for those who haven't already run out and bought their copy ...

    ~$39 Dork Smith
    $39.95 The Warehouse **
    $33.95 Countdown / Foodtown / Woolworths supermarkets
    $???? Whitcoulls - 20% off on Saturday, 23 November

    Episode II video
    $24.95 Countdown / Foodtown / Woolworths supermarkets
    $???? Harvey Morons
    $???? Dork Smith
    $???? The Warehouse **
    $???? Whitcoulls - 20% off on Saturday, 23 November
    $???? K-Mart
    $???? Blonde & Blonde
    $???? Noel Lemmings
    $???? Video Ezy

Hmmm ... not many people/advertisments seem interested in the video. :(

** I'm not sure if the Xbox competition is just for the Warehouse buyers or if it's the Christmas Cracker competition that's on various videos and DVDs.

I might pick up the video tape if it's at a bargain price over the next few months ... I like those 'connection' documentaries, which are only on the tape, apparently.

I'm just going down to Hunter's Plaza now, so I'll check K-Mart.

video will be around for a fair while as a recording option for some time, but I think film distributors are putting more and more effort into DVD releases ... extra stuff, nicer packaging etc. Plus, I have heard that Blockbuster "video" is planning on going entirely DVD in a years time.

That's what they said about audio tapes, and yet they still sell those by the ton. ;)

I just got the Warehouse brochure and the Xbox competition is only if you buy the DVD / video from them - oh, well, the chance to win an Xbox isn't worth the $6 extra cost.

Here's the updated price list (although it looks like most people here have already got or are abot to get their copy anyway): :)

    Episode II DVD
    $49.95 Harvey Morons
    ~$39 Dork Smith
$39.99 Noel Lemmings (although their website has it listed twice, once at $39.99 and again at $49.99)
$39.95 The Warehouse (plus chance to win one of two Xbox consoles)
    $34.85 K-Mart
    $33.95 Countdown / Foodtown / Woolworths supermarkets
    $???? Whitcoulls - 20% off on Saturday, 23 November
    $???? Blonde & Blonde
    $???? Video Ezy
    $???? United Video
    $???? ...

    Episode II video
$29.99 The Warehouse (plus chance to win one of two Xbox consoles)
    $24.95 Countdown / Foodtown / Woolworths supermarkets
    $24.85(?) K-Mart
    $???? Harvey Morons
    $???? Dork Smith
    $???? Whitcoulls - 20% off on Saturday, 23 November
    $???? Blonde & Blonde
    $???? Noel Lemmings
    $???? Video Ezy
    $???? United Video
    $???? ...

Edit: updated K-mart (thanks Kitt) and Noel Lemmings prices. :)

Okay, I picked it up from K-mart - DVD 34.85, (video was 24.85 I think). I could have told them foodtown had it a dollar cheaper, but I decided to just support K-Mart, seeing as they'd great at getting star wars toys.

I just watched the blooper reel! Hayden Christensen is a total klutz! LOL.

Unfortunately, I've just been informed that members of the extended family are coming over this afternoon, so I'm going to have to watch as much as I can right now.

:) yay, I'm so happy:) I ran off to Lynn Mall this morning, and found it at Woolworths (8:50am) - which is open 24hrs, so technically I could have had it at midnight :( but anyway $33.99 is good! I've watched the movie through - compared to my on-line theatrical version - several new shots not in the original release :) I would have loved to have seen the lost twenty or Dooku's two lightsabers in the deleted scenes, but oh well. I love it!!!!!!!!!!!

    :)

    *runs off to watch more*

Okay, just saw an ad on tv ... if you buy or rent AOTC from video ezy, you go in the draw to win a collectable Jango Fett doll.

OK, so Whitcoulls is $39.99, so when they have their 20% off sale that'll make it about $8 cheaper = $31.99, that's $2 cheaper than the supermarkets.

Assuming roughly the same price for the video as the other places, that'll be about $6 cheaper, which means about $1 cheaper than the supermarkets.

    So that means a total saving of $2 + $1 = $3. Now, is a $3 saving worth waiting another week ... hmmmm. ?[face_plain]

OK. Whitcoulls in ShoreCity mall, Takapuna, has it for $39.99. I still have my receipt.

The price came up on the till as $49.99, but the checkout lady hit some discount button and it corrected to $39.99 (as the DVD was stickered at $39.99) -> I guess the price is a limited time offer or something.
