Speaking of which, the official announcement of the epII DVD came out not long ago. Check it out here. Looks very much worth the wait.

In the meantime, 5 days till LOTR, and Back to the Future isn't far behind. Joy :)

Unfortunately that link is just going to the forum index.

I like the cover art of AOTC. It matches well with TPM's and with any luck K-Mart will come to the party and make one of those cardboard covers to match TPM's as well.

Anyway, is there an official date for the Australian release yet? I'll add it to the countdown thread if I can get some kind of official word.

It is an International release, so if the US release is November 12, you'd have to say we'll get it that same week. Anything listed as a Wednesday release for here will usually be out by the Tuesday anyway.

There's also a Video Ezy sale next weekend. It's good for finding bargains. I got Jurassic Park 1 and 2 for $10 last time. It was in a rental only double case, but the discs were the official sell-thru ones with all the extras. Bargain!

    To the top again.

If you're an Apocalpyse Now fan you might be interested in Empire Magazine's offer to subscribe this month. You get the DVD of AN: Redux for free(!!!) if you subscribe for 12 months. I'm looking into it now since I'm a pretty big fan of the movie and magazine and I'll be getting both the Magazine and movie anyway.

I've also added the AOTC DVD to the countdown thread. So if you want to keep track of it's release... keep an eye on it there.

Sweet! I'm looking forward to the spidey one. Almost as much as AOTC, which is scary.

Apparently there will be 2 versions of Spidey. The 2 disc 'normal' one and a special Limited Edition one which will contain some extra features and the soundtrack all package in a handsome looking box. :D

What is the appeal of Spidey?

Don't get me wrong - I'm a BIG Spidey fan from way back - remember when the first movie came out and you tried to climb the walls?

But apart from a few good moments, I wasn't that thrilled with the movie.

But I guess I'm the lone ranger on this one.

Btw, thanks for the Video Ezy tip, Wedge - I'd say see you there, but I'll be trotting up to my local (or closest local, anyway).

Also, regarding Video Ezy sales, they have them every other year, and yet there is ALWAYS videos there that look like they should have been retired twenty years ago - whats up with that? Or do they keep putting them out every year hoping that someone will buy them?

    Oh well.

I think most of the VEs just keep the for sale videos on the side and try to sell them at the next sale another 6 months later. Pretty sad, but you can get some good finds. Kotara here is great for hard to find videos like the "Empire Strikes Back: Making of" that I bought for $3. I also passed up on getting "Hearts of Darkness" which is the making of Apocalypse Now.

Which VE will you be going to? I usually hit a couple on the day. Anything you're particuarly on the look out for? I wouldn't mind a "Jay & Silent Bob", "Training Day" and whatever other bargains show their face.

Ok, believe it or not, I bought my first DVD today at the video Ezy sale...

(Long story - money is the villain)

    What did I get?

Star Wars - Episode 1: The Phantom Menace

    :D

    $12.95

    w00t!

Oh, and my PC broke down. My DVD player ate a CD last night, and Win XP keeps crashing (crashproof my bottom-bits!) so I installed Win98SE this arvo and I must say, DVD on Win98SE beats DVD on WinXP - on my pc anyway. Smooth as a baby's smoothest bits...

The feature on Nick Gallard teaching them to fight - not one bit o flicker!

    w00t!

    Ok, I am happiness.

Jeez $13! Bargain! I've got my copy in the Kmart slip case so I'm not too disappointed. :)

    Today I got...

    Ocean's 11 (for $15)
    The Exorcist (for $10)
    Red Planet (for $5)
    Tomb Raider (for $10)
and The Skulls for the girlfriend (for $10)

Not too disappointed. Would've liked a "Training Day", but they were all $20 and I don't believe in paying the premium rate for ex-rental stuff.

    :)

True. I had a copy of Mulholland Falls but left it coz it was $19.95.

I'll just wait until someone has a sale and I have more money ...

Don't suppose you can get us in on some of that?

I scored a bargain yesterday! I bought Black Hawk Down and opened it up last night and there was two discs in there. One was floating around and I guess I didn't notice it when I bought it, but it still works perfectly as it was the one I watched to test it out!

All I need is another cover and I'll see if I can off-load it somewhere.

    West Wing Season 1 - Part 1 (Ep 1-11): $67 at K-Mart.

    Nearly bought it today.

May buy it with birthday money. Not sure.

But I DID buy Apocalypse Now: Redux today.

So now I have SW:TPM, Apocalypse Now, and will probably have FOTR within a week.

Not a bad start to my collection, me thinks.

    :D
