Ep I & II are a setup, Episode III is a payoff. A lot of fans think the first two are skippable (not that I agree with them).

 

Yeah which sometimes feels like pricing for steak at Ruth's Chris' with food from Chuck a Rama.

 

I think it may be better thought of as starter, main course and dessert.

Having said that, only slightly better thought of in those terms.

Pretty sure the Earliest Known Internet Prequel Rumor was started in 1970 or 1971. The reactions of most fans included things like, "what's the Internet?", "what's a prequel?", and "what's Star Wars?"

 

I just tried that, but I couldn't even get the first reel to go in all the way in.

 

Episode II is definitely skippable. In fact, we have substituted the original Clone Wars (Vol I & II) as our Episode II. Thsoe cartoons are what Episode 2 should have been.

 

I don't understand a thing you said...but it is interesting reading these, especially as most of these rumors were still from before I was born.

 

I remember reading that it would be revealed that Boba Fett is a girl. I also remember hearing that Darth Maul's real name was [sp?] Khmeir Sarin

 

That wasn't a rumor, that was Stupah-Shadow-fanon.

 

Could have sworn I came across the 'Sarin' name for Maul in that 'Episode I: Darth Maul Journal'. Been a good 12 years since I read that, though.

 

Man I remember back in the day, in the 80s talking with friends for hours on how we thought Anakin become Vader, what was Obi-wan role, how did the Emperor get in to power. It was a lot fun.
