The leak is plausible enough, because we actually do know that everything kinda happens like the leaker explains. Namely Kylo catching up with the Resistance after they escape D'Qar, and blowing up Poe's X-Wing. It's just not the opening ten minutes of the movie.

Maybe Poe is like Batman and is an ******* who keeps several black X-Wings in reserve just for himself.

To me the Finn part makes the least sense. Why would Poe try to remove him from the contraption? Why isn't he fighting to defend the ship (which defends Finn) but instead going on about the scenario of if they are boarded? I don't know...

Keep in mind Finn is supposed to be off to Canto Bight with Rose at some point as well, doesn't make a lot of sense for him to still be in a coma any later than the 1st act

Totally agree with this. Finn is in no more danger in his healing contraption than everyone else is on the ship. He escapes when they all do.

You can see Poe's boosted X-Wing gets blown up here:

I saw a theory on Reddit that this isn’t the opening ten minutes, but an edited version of the DQar battle that spans more like 20-30 mins. Not sure why they would do that, though.

I am too confused by all the Poe trailer/teaser shots, but I had been thinking that maybe Poe isn't able to get in the battle in the D'qar scene because his X-Wing and the hangar are blown up. And my thought was this adds to his later frustrations because he can do the most for the Resistance in his X-Wing, but he couldn't even get out there. And in the meantime the Resistance suffered considerable losses.

Was there anything that contradicted that in the teasers/trailers? (I can't think of anything)

They developed the algorithm and system. It's piss poor. Sure the aggregating of the actual reviews happens...but the "score" is what is front and centre, not just in other news items about a given movie, but on the site itself...it's the largest "feature" of the site. It's what RT WANTS you to look at. It's their hook. That is social engineering/wayfinding trickery to fool the absent-minded of the masses. It's TOTALLY their fault.

Yes, but you're missing the point...the RT system is a fresh or rotten system full stop. You submit your review and it literally gives you a setting of what you would rate it out of ten...and then RT decides if your review is rotten or not based on that. No nuance. As I noted upthread. Your review can have a bunch of subtle reasons why you did or didn't like a given point of the movie...which people can cognitively decide allies with their view of such things or not. The RT system choice disallows any of that. You don't get to say "Since I liked these aspects of the flawed movie, I call it fresh"....that's not how it works at all. You have to tell the site what numerical you'd give the film...and even if they are JUST below the threshold for fresh (meaning, you largely may have enjoyed it)...they get lumped into rotten because of that numerical score.

It's black and white across the board. That's my problem with it. It assumes that no one has a brain to think for themselves...and lots of people don't...and EXPLOITS that.

Again, it's social engineering, and not even GOOD social engineering....it's blatant and yet people fall for it.

Not at all. I'm happy to entertain the idea that critics didn't like a movie I enjoyed. Entertainment is subjective. But when a site develops such a stark and unyielding numerical assignment system, that dismisses any subtlety from its main feature (the RT score everyone always talks about), then I feel that's misleading to anyone not willing to dig into 200 critical reviews to find the "reasons" why it may or may not have scored highly in the aggregate. I've dug into critical reviews on the site that register as "rotten" and find that aside for some issues, the critic generally liked the film but the flaws dropped the overall numerical rating they were forced (By the RT rating query system) to shove it into, making it seem like a bad movie instead of simply a flawed one.

But then I feel like ratings for anything need to go away. Ratings, numerical, stars, tomatoes...whatever...do the piece of art a HUGE disservice. You want to know if you will like something you want to see/hear? Read a full persons thoughts on the subject and all the nuance therein. Don't assume that the amount of macguffins someone gave it tells you all you need to know....otherwise you walk around WOEFULLY misinformed.

I say this as someone who used to write reviews for a living.

Ew. I do not want a 20-30 minute space battle, lol.

...? Lol I dunno what to tell you. These movies are called “Star Wars.” Less than ten minutes for the opening battle is jarringly quick to me.

    I want one! haha

Anyways, it looks like a fake leak. Kylo's Tie is seen with the Supremacy in the background. We can assume that the Supremacy isn't in the battle of D'Qar because of the a-wing book that leaked some time ago, indicating that the FOs attack force is only the Dreadnought escorted by a couple of regular star destroyers.

The timeline that makes sense the most is that Kylo's tie scene is more toward the middle of the movie, where the FO catches up to the escaping resistance. Also, didn't MSW mentioned that part of the resistance plot is them being pursued across the galaxy by the FO? If this is the case, it would make sense to have 2 space battles, not just one.

I don't care enough about this topic to offer rebuttal. You clearly are extremely passionate about, and have deep issues with, this aggregate review site.

I'l go on using RT. I think it's a wonderful resource. We'll agree to disagree.

Regardless of what sounds plausible and what doesn't, I do find it a teensy bit curious that a British journalist would be there covering the Mexican event when all the actual coverage so far has been coming from Latin American journalists.

    Everyone confused about the X-Wings:

In TFA he has a basic black X-Wing. That could be the one described as being destroyed in this 10 minute clip.
Then he gets the boosted one to replace it.

Well, which did you care about more in TFA? The bombing run on SKB or Kylo vs Rey/Finn?

Depends on whether that 20-30 minutes was intertwined with other footage. The Battles of Yavin and Endor are pretty long.

That true but Star Wars is popular for the Force related themes (Jedi vs Sith) , not boring pew-pew army battles.

And is conveniently a member here since 2015.

The only thing I buy is a shot from space if the FO converging over D'Qar. Films tend to start with baddie in space

The Kylo and Leia interaction seems off. Yes, the sense each other, but what he is describing does not match the emotion we see from Kylo in the trailer.

I like some of the space battles. I found the TFA run on SKB really boring but I for instance loved the RO space battle because I felt it was showing the Force at work (all the timing worked out so perfectly because the Force was involved in this great light side comeback. The whole thing was like a Force concert). I liked the ANH one too. My issue with ROTJ was all the cutting back and forth between Endor, the space battle, and Luke/Vader got a bit annoying, but otherwise I liked the space battle. PT space battles were meh. I really am hopeful the TLJ space battles will be entertaining.

The only reason I would buy this is because it seems much more reasonable to show something like this than the other one that described which is lacking energy.
