While we know of several script versions of the Classical Trilogy (especially episode IV), I have not seen early script versions anywhere for the prequels. Have you seen such early versions? It would be interesting to see what changes Lucas made during writing these films.

I've not seen any either -- excepting those posted by Super Shadow's!!!!!! [face_whistling]

Blue Harvest takes pride in early ANH versions, but it seems this is not the case with the PT.

Perhaps the mods can shed some light on this thread?

Can't remember the link, but there is a site that deals with early scripts for the PT. It has a rundown of things in TPM that were changed for the final version.

    For example:

-Obi-Wan discovered Anakin on Tatooine, having originally gone to Naboo alone.
-the Gungans spoke with more familiar dialects (no baby talk)
    -Qui-Gon first appeared on Coruscant.
-There was racial tension between the Naboo and the Gungans.

I'll have a look around the web and see if I can find the link.

In RotS, Lucas orginally had Anakin becoming a Sith when Palpatine revealed himself to be Sidious in the Chancellor's office. Then Mace and co. showed up to make sure Palpatine gave back emergency powers after the death of Grevious. Anakin watches Mace and Palpatine duel and then Palpatine is disarmed and Anakin steps in and saves him.

Unfortunately, I have not found the early drafts for the PT online. For a time the early draft of AOTC was online, first before the film's release and then again afterwards. But it was replaced with the final draft. You're best looking for it in "The Art Of" or "The Making Of" books. I think it's generally the latter.

I remeber a long time ago reading a script of TPM where Adi Gaillia got like two lines in the council scene.......I don't know if it was official....and I read one that said at the end of AOTC only Yoda, Mace, Plo Koon, and Ki-Adi-Mundi survived from the council at the end of the battle of geonosis (sp?)...again I don't know if they were offical...they were online.

I'm not sure about early scripts, but I've found scripts for AOTC on google that had alot of things written in that weren't shown in the movie, same with extra lines. These weren't on supershadow's 'website' either. They weren't really anything special but it was interesting to read some of the things Lucas invisioned the characters doing or saying that he randomly just cut out off the movie.

So what exactly is "supershadow", isn't it like some lame hoax site?

Yes, to put it mildly and give supershadow more credit than is due. :p [face_laugh]

Also known as the name and site that "shall not be mentioned" as in the Harry Potter series.

Well said. Somehow "some lame hoax site" just doesn't quite do it. [face_laugh]

Supershadow is a guy who likes to trick people into thinking that he's best buds with Lucas has had a hand in everything since at least 1996. He's nothing more than an annoyance to be laughed at and nothing more.

As I've said, it's difficult to find something for the PT scripts that isn't the final draft made public. While the OT has a few websites dedicated to the various drafts, the PT hasn't been as lucky. The only way to view the actual drafts and notes, is to visit the ranch.

IIRC, MF-dot-com had the script-up (as it was leaked), but alas... the rough draft/early version is no longer available. I tore through their site last nite but it was to no avail.

    Only the post-Spielberg edition exists.:p

You mean ROTS? I didn't think Spielberg was involved with AOTC.

    Yes, RoTS.
AOTC was bland enought without his meddling.

    So the ranch is visitable?

Yep, here is Conan O'Brien's tour of the Ranch.

The third draft is the one that's made available for ROTS. Same with TPM and AOTC. Every draft of ANH is available, two drafts of ROTJ and two of TESB.

I think those on the recent Conan O'Brian show were Lucas' brand new offices located at the old armory near the San Francisco Bay bridge.
