ST Earthly Locations that You Think Would be Perfect for one of the New Star Wars films!

What other films have shot on location in Iceland?

 

I wouldn't doubt that a few key exterior shots of Prometheus (for it's many flaws, a mostly visually beautiful movie) were shot in Iceland.

 

I'd like to make a bid for South America.

Atacama Desert -- a lot of great choices with this one. I love the colors of Atacama and I bet its vistas would look gorgeous on the silver screen:

Even though I feel like Star Wars tends to play it coy with its locations and doesn't pick too many famous or recognizable places, Mount Roraima was made for a Star Wars movie (it also screams Yavin IV):

Found another one. An ice cave that's been eroded by flowing water. I think it's Iceland.

 

Someone better put this in a movie now!

 

Yeah, Prometheus filmed there. Also Oblivion, Interstellar and Thor 2. Iceland is really popular right now. It has some pretty unique landscapes.

that my friend is the grand canyon.... another place that i cant remember the name of is the flat mountain top in Arizona that the Native American Legends were, that the Sky Gods "ALIENS" used to land on the mountain top and Commune with the People, there are still tons of UFO sightings at this site to this day,

I'm surprised we haven't spent much time on any tropical beach/island planets in Star Wars. Really hope to see one in the ST.

 

Going to suck if new planets are going to based on Earth's locales. But if you have to have it: Detroit.

Apart from those rock formations, that beach looks exactly like the one at the end of the movie Contact.

But it just wouldn't be fair to film on a tropical beach like that! Actors lives are already so cushy. With a location like that, it be like they're getting paid millions to go on vacation!

If the locales are obviously identifiable places on earth, then I agree, but some of these places on this thread hardly look like "earth" at all.

This is pretty close to what I imagine Yavin IV to look like, adorned with crumbling, ivy-infested ruins and temples; very rich and earthy.

I notice some on here have Mentioned Iceland, Abrams Already did some shooting in Iceland for Episode 7, I believe they are doing Plate Shots of Iceland like Abrams did for Star Trek 2009 and i thought the scenes on the Ice Planet in Star Trek 2009 looked like Hoth....
